Does anyone know the brand of mini-shield on the "January" R12R? Does it do much to divert air from your chest?

That's Ziobato's beauty-ful machine. I don't recognize it, he probably made it himself!

I think he made it from a Yamaha screen.

Why can't BMW or someone else design a decent (ie good looking and functional) shield for our naked bikes? They do it for the K1300R, KTM does it for the 990 SMT, and Yamaha for the Fazer, to name a few.

And from what I've read the KTM windshields are reasonably priced. Although I guess we should worry about just having the windshield available first THEN we can worry about the reasonable price.

I recently put the BMW sport windscreen on after not having anything.
After a trip up to and around northern VT without anything, my neck was really sore from dealing with the head-on wind.
After I put the sport screen on, the buffeting increased some (around my arms and shoulders), but my neck was definitely better off.
So, for me, the windscreen deflects enough wind off my head to give my neck some relief. Ear plugs help, too.

Has anyone of you been able to compare the original BMW sorts screen with the BMW touring screen, especially on the high way?
Right now I have the touring screen, but I think the sports screen is much nicer. I only wonder whether it makes a big difference in riding long distance.

Interesting. My thoughts are quite the opposite.

My bike came with the sport screen, and I rode it without thinking much about the screen. After my recent trip, I took the screen off to soak it to remove 21 states worth of dead bugs. When I next rode the bike (with the screen still off), I was amazed by how much quieter and smoother it was. I haven't taken any long trips since, but my feeling right now is to leave the screen off.

I'll have to give screenless a try. I have always had either my sport screen or my Givi screen on.
It would be nice if someone had a Wunderlich c@ckpit for me to try out.

You can try mine out anytime. I live in Hiawassee, GA., so you can't be too far away.

After spending the big bucks for the Trophy, I wouldn't be without it, and I'll bet the Wudo is just as good.

Ditto — a much quieter ride without the screen. I've been commuting screenless two weeks and love it. The bike feels more flickable. But turbulence pushes back above 50.

yeah, in town it's great without a screen.
But for me, 5 hours on the highway without anything was too much for my neck.
Sport screen actually seems to function, minimally, for me on the highway.

Cw were you at the Ga. Mtn. rally this spring?
i saw someones very nice looking bike with a Wunderlich fairing on. I posted some pics of it on this site.

I'm one who took the sport screen off and like it better that way. I noticed that little turbulence with the shield but never having any shield before, it was easy to switch to not having one for this bike. As for high speeds, I enjoy the workout. And after loosing 7 pounds on my 2 week trip this summer, I can't complain. Or maybe it was because I didn't have a refrigerator in my tent for those late night bad snacking habits.
