BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Cal. Scientific has a picture of a gray/silver R1200 with handguards on their website that appear to mount to the clutch/brake masters and not the handlebars. The folks at Cal. Sci. thought it belonged to Don Eilenberger. Don assures me it's not his. Does anyone know about the handguards on this bike?

Those are the stock 2007 GS hand guards that you can't get any more. Their the ones that most of us have.

Thanks Harry. I have the '08 and later type but they don't mount as well as I would like. Is there any word that BMW might bring the earlier ones back?

Search this list. Somewhere on here their is information about mounting the new guards. Something about using the right handlebar mount on the left side and visa versa.

Gotta point out that, living in sunny southern California, I have found that ACERBIS Uniko handguards, at $38.95 (http://www.motorhelmets.com/.../bodypar ... -table.htm) work just fine, and are easy to mount if you just grind the clamps down a bit. Saves lots of money, keeps the hands a bit warmer, and yesterday saved me from a whipping by some chaparral I inadvertently leaned into on a tight left-hander. Also must point out that JC Whitney makes a decent topcase for less than $70 bucks, which has served me quite well at considerable savings over the overpriced OEM topcase...

Sometimes we need to look outside the square.
Buying BMW hardware we pay a lot.
I just googled hand gaurds and this site came up.
Well worth a look.
