Z6 or Diablo Strada

After 15k kms on my Metzeler Roadtec Z6, my beak needs new shoes. Available at the same price are Pirelli Diablo Strada, which look very similar to the Z6. Been very satisfied with my Z6, but would like to know if the Stradas are any better? Mileage is more importanty to me. Anyone compared them? Thanks!

I have had both and liked the Stradas best. They have a tall profile that really drops the bike into the lean.
I understand that the Diabolo Stradas have been d/c and replaced by the Pirelli Angels. Not 100% sure on that though...
I got good mileage on both tires ~10,000 miles.

Thanks Doug, will order the Stradas today. BTW, I have the Bridgestone shop mount/balance my tires and they always inflate it with nitrogen. When I top up at the gas stations, its just air I use. Any problems with this other than more heating? Back from scuba days I remember air is 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, 1% trace elements :)

I've had both and like the Stradas for their turn-in, and better grip than the old Z4's from which I switched (big improvement!), but hardly any different than the Z6's. I'm running the Z6's now because of price & availability.

Mileage on both were almost exactly the same, maybe a few more miles from the Strada's front tire (16250kms on Strada vs. 14500kms on Z6's), but nearly exactly the same mileage from the rears (~ 11500kms).

They're now made by the same company, and are both great tires. The only issue I remember having with the rear Strada was late in it's life (just before swapping it for a Z6 after 7160 miles = 11456kms) there was some cracking at the bead - not unlike weather-checking in appearance - but the very small cracks were circumferentially aligned in the dried rubber compound and appeared to be stress related. That's one of the reasons why I swapped it out (the other being it was lumpy and worn out!) I called the factory rep here about the cracking and they were surprised to hear of it (of course!), and said they had not heard of this happening previously. Could be just the intense heat we have here in the summer :-k

I'd go for the Stradas too.

In fact - after using the Angels for a few thousand miles now - I'd go back to the Stradas!! My Angels are squaring off something horrid surprisingly quickly. (although I am doing a lot more "straight" riding than I was last year)

On thing to remember with the Stradas (and MORE so with the Z6) is that there is no tread pattern cut out across the middle of the tyre (the area of maximum wear) so you can go to the beads without realising it quite easily.

Thanks for the push in the right direction guys. I just installed the Stradas today. I was taken by surprise as they have this tendency to wanna fall into the corners. My Z6 would also do so but in a much less manner. The Z6 would feel like a smooth banking Boeing 747, which I like. The Stradas more like a cessna, which I still have to get used to. Need more seat time of course, this is just my initial observation. Was doing esses all the way home as these tires seem to wanna be turning rather than be going straight

Your settings are not far off my usual =D> . I initially put 40F/44R rear during installation cuz I assume this will go down when it cools off tomorrow. Will re-set it to my usual 36F/40R tomorrow morning and see if it improves things a bit. I love the way the name slides off my tongue though...Dhayablow Shhtrradaa 8) . Thanks for the advice!

Just to confuse the issue a bit...

Check out the Michelin PR2s. I like them more than the Stradas--which I liked, but did not re-buy, got between 8 and 9k out of them.
I am on my second set of PR2s and find them just as advertised. ON my first set I got 11-13 out of them.

They were only about $30 more for the pair and well worth it imho

A+++ For Michelin PR2's. =D>
My first 2 sets of PR2's came from swmototires. Both sets were fresh and both were maid in Spain.
Few weeks ago I was looking for a new set of tires and found them on sale from another web site.
I saved about 35 bucks but, the rear tire is about 2 years old, also made is Spain, and
the front tire is much newer but made in Thailand. The production date and origin of tires does make a difference. :-k
Next time I am going back to SW and stay with PR2's.
Good Luck.

Another vote for the PR2's. You won't be sorry.
