Handlebar adjusting

I'm new to BMW (from HD/Buell). Both the manual and the dealer say don't loosen and adjust the handlebars on my new R12R because of the reservoirs located on them. To me it just looks too easy to loosen them and rotate them back in order to tweak the ergos a little. Can anybody tell me if that would be a mistake?

I rolled mine back a degree or two and it made a difference. No problems.

The throttle housing, and switches are located, but the lever assemblys are free to rotate. I rolled the bars back alittle on mine then adjusted the lever assemblys.

After installing bar-backs, I turned the bars as much as I wanted, put a carpenter's level on top of the reservoirs and adjusted them to be level. No problems in 30K miles.

Just be careful....rotate the bars completely and slowly because there is not alot to rotate before the switches hit the tank, and you don't want that to happen.

... and (especially) if you have barbacks, make sure the brake line is not stressed at full lock. Rotated mine a bit too. No problems.
