For those who joined the forum since January, you may like to know that a 2010 calendar is available which features forum members bikes.

To have a preview of (and hopefully order) a copy of the 2010 R1200R Owners Calendar go to :

http://www.cafepress.co.uk/make/personalized-gifts

and enter the product code in the search box : 406936647.

Its even better in the flesh,....but then I 'm biased, since my bike is featured this month ;)

I will be producing another calendar for next year (starting around September) so you have a chance to get your pride and joy in the 2011 version. Get snapping.

Forgot to mention, would be good to have photo entries taken throughout the seasons of the year. Am also thinking of next years theme. This year, I focussed on owners from different countries. Would welcome members ideas for a 2011 theme. Some of my own thoughts:
Favourite roads
Remote locations (on and off road)
Famous places (tourist attractions)
Lakes Mountains and Valleys
Extreme weather
Girls bikes only! (just kidding.....sadly , such quality is in short supply)

...or perhaps all the above and a photo competition where we post all entries on the forum and vote the best 12 shots.

(would limit winning calendar entries to 1 or 2 per person.... to give us novices a chance :) )

I like all the above and maybe more. Whether it's the scenery or surroundings that appeal, the center is still the bike.
-The first calendar had mostly nature, animals in one shot, people in none. Maybe more of a mix where all three are represented in some shots would be interesting.
-Shots that have the owner in them in some way.
-Art in motion, extreme closeup shots.
-I probably favor a theme where the month is in tune to the season. That doesn't mean December has to feature snow if you think about southern places.
-Have no theme, but as you suggested, have forum members vote instead.

Another option would be to do the normal bike shot, with like a favorite mountain road or something, and then have a small inset photo of the owner and bike with a small caption. Just an idea, but I do hope to get in on this action for 2011.

Don't know if anyone noticed but the 2010 calendar shots are aligned to the seasons.

I also like the idea of variety (and including the owners in an inset photo).

We'll see what come's out of the photo competition.

Something %500 Open-Minded.....any sort of pictures but always with the bike visible at one condition... the bike visibility should not take more than approximatively %5 of the overall picture surface.

Out of the Box + Out of Frame = OPEN MINDED !

As example below
Here I was doing a Wheelie with my new ----> LED add-ons !

And in the following 2 pictures
which light reflection effect do you prefer the most ?

This one ?

Or this one ?

For a theme idea. How about candid camping? Non polished bike. Real world.

Joe is by no means the only one of us who camps on his R1200R.
Also I wouldn't do a whole year on camping unless we had a bunch of really good stuff.

Great photos. Particularly like the second one. Wonderful colours and atmosphere in that shot.

Thanks for the suggestion. Am keeping an open mind....

I agree. I reckon I could save myself a lot of time and just ask Joe for 12 of his favourite shots. Job done!

Action shots.....like the R scraping the cyl head on a high speed sweeper, or two wheels off the ground from a high speed elevation change, wheelies, stoppies, or loaded for long trip, maybe custom paint jobs, or maybe with really good looking people posing with it...sexy but tasteful....like our bike.

Reckon you should be crowned "Miss R1200R 2010" with that shot.

(...so long so you're also doing an MBA in philosophy, like to travel and doing lots for children's charties  )

Yep, like 'em all...........would love to see a pic of an R1200R doing a "stoppie". My guess is that stoppies on an R1200 are impossible.
...Someone will prove me wrong, no doubt

Action shots are great but pretty difficult to get. I am going to an advanced rider training in June at a local race track. I am hoping that towards the end of the day someone will be able to get a shot of me taking one of the corners... With vacation in West Virginia and Virginia as well as a trip to the AMA races at VIR I hope to get some interesting pictures to choose from for the calendar next year....

Sounds great. Just be careful around those corners. Don't overdo it.

It reminds me of a funny incident when I was in my teens. A friend of mine came off TWICE in 10 minutes on the same corner on one of our bike photo shoots.
I was stood at the roadside (on the outside of one of our favourite bends) waiting to capture the action shot of my mate leaning off his bike at the greatest "angle of dangle" (incl shower of sparks from the footrest). But he over-cook it, and he + bike came sliding towards me. I jumped out of the way, just in time.
He was furious I missed the shot, so he decided to have a second go. I couldn't believe it - same thing happened!....only that time I got the shot , just before I dived for safety.....then his dad turned up! (didnt take him long to sus what had happened - 2 fresh grooves in the road (MZ's built like a tank),bike footrest pointing skyward,my mates leathers in tatters...and me with camera in hand 8-[ . He got a bit cross

The photo?.....I successfully managed to capture the 150cc MZ at a totally unrealistic angle (ie just before the 2nd tumble). It was framed, and has since travelled the world with my mate in his job in HM Navy. Happy days.

Don't worry folks, I'm out this year so go take lots of photo's!

Like Mark said, there's plenty of people who take great photo's and do fun things with their R around here besides me.

My new agent won't let me publish any of my images any longer.

There's a youtube video of that around here somewhere.

It's easy, just remove one of the ABS sensors effectively disabling the ABS then have at it!

Oh, yeah I guess you need some crazy skillz too!

Here's your money shot -- full lean, one-handed, fully loaded, toe slider skimming the tarmac and a righteous one-finger salute -- AWESOME!
