Does anyone know if it's possible to turn the headlamps on without starting the engine on an '05 R12 (CAN Bus)
I am trying to trace an intermittent fault in the wiring which is making one headlamp flicker badly and it's a pain having to run the engine, not to mention the heat, noise and vibration.
I read that you can stop it coming on with a conbination of turn canel and right indicator switches, which seems to work, but is there the opposite function for servicing etc.
Thanks a lot

Re: Headlamp on without starting enging?
Doesn't the headlight stay on after shutting the engine off with the kill switch? I seem to recall that it does, but I'll have to try it myself to be sure.
Edit, tried it on mine, the light comes on when the key is turned on, I don't have to start the bike. And it stays on after the engine is killed. But since yours is a 2005 model, I guess it's not a R1200R.

It's an RT but I thought the wiring would be pretty much the same. On mine, the kill turns off the headlamps as well as killing the motor. There's no actual lamp on-off switch, only lo-hi beam and flash - maybe is because it's a European model.
Thanks for the idea anyway - I hadn't thought of it and it was worth trying.

Try putting it in gear and stalling the engine, the headlamp might then stay on.

Nearly! it stays on for about 5 seconds, then off. I think I might have to give up on this one - I'm going to call the maintenance dept. at my dealer, see if I can learn the secret - if there is one
