SW Motech eng. guard install

Has anyone self installed these eng guards? The instructions imply for real mechanics only...that wouldn't be me. The diagram is straight fwd but my concern is if the rear engine frame bolt is removed, will the motor fall out of alignment while I'm fiddling with aligning and bolting in the guard? Also would any fluid come out?
Thanks for any advice. Toby

The instructions suck, but the install is easy. No worries whatsoever. No fluid will leak, and the install is a snap. The 6mm bolts are a little difficult-- and stupidly small. After seeing the altrider crashbars for the GS which attach with beefy bolts, I seriously question this design. That said, I have the SW motech guards installed, and it only took about 20 minutes with a little help from Girl Wonder. My only word of wisdom is " loctite."

As noted the instructions suck. The engine will not fall out. I did the install with the bike on the center stand without problem. The only real "trick" is to realize that the hardware is side-specific and not will not interchange. I would suggest that you get a sharpie marker and properly number the bolts and standoff's according to the metric sizes noted, by length. That makes identification much easier.

Remember to use some blue Loctite on the parts.
