1st New Farkle: TankBag!

Installed first new farkle on my R12R, an “Engage” Bags Connection tankbag mounted on a SW Mototech gas cap ring mount.
Considering that I’m all thumbs, the install went well. Only real issue was my order with Twisted Throttle. My `09 has the older `07 gas cap, and the TW rep was helpful in identifying that I had the older cap.
Bag sits sturdy on its mount, even at 75+ mph. Not intrusive either. Not waterproof, but comes with a cover.
Expensive, yes. About $240. But I’m satisfied.

I have one of the SW Motech gas cap rings as well, and a small day pack (Diablo? Can't remember the name of it) that works well.
My bike is right on the boundary of when they switched the type of gas cap ring, though, and so I ended up with both of the mounts.

Great start! I was discouraged at first by having the connecting mechanism around the tank ring, but have gotten used to it. Besides, my tank bag usually stays on. I have the Daypack II and installed my satellite radio, headphone amplifier, and phone charger inside. It just looks like a regular tank bag, so I'm not as worried about theft. When I am, I just take it off with the pull of the tab. The satellite antenna even works just fine in the top pocket.
BTW- Thank you Joe (Chitown) for the idea. I'm a big fan of your Pelican box tank bag farkle.

What do you use for a helmet headset?

I use Shure E2Cs. I have listened to these and the Etymotics side by side and the Shures sound better. To me at least.
And they are cheaper.
When did they change the gas cap ring types? Mine must be the older type. How does it differ from the newer type?

Marc:
I use Etymotics. Will have to check out the Schures.
Re: the gas cap. The older version has the cap/hinge unit snapping into place with the plastic housing via a pair of tiny metal posts. The newer version uses a pair of screws instead. Twisted Throttle's webpage for the SW Mototech tankbag attachment ring has comparative pics. Just a minor design change, but it makes a difference if you're gonna get the SW Mototech mount.

I have Iasus speakers in my new helmet, although they are a bit quite even after being amplified by the AmpliRider Amp. I can still hear them just fine with my earplugs in. The ones in my older helmet are some generic something-or-other speakers and are louder but not as good of sound quality.
