F800ST handlebar specs

Would one of you please measure the F800ST handlebar dimension?

Width (inside bar-end weights) =
Rise =
Pull-back (clamp to end of bar inside weight) =

And for CycleRob, Touchton: how's the F800ST handlebar ergos compared with R1150R handlebar?

Reason I'm asking all this - considering handlebar option for my Rockster, and know I don't want R1150R Roadster bar.

sweatmark, If you have heated grips, you'll need to saw/grind out a block of thick steel for the OilHead's grip power wire to pass thru as the throttle grip rotates. Remove the 50R's throttle grip and you'll see what will have to be duplicated. My F800ST has a solid bar because the grip wire is all external. Actually a better, no trauma design for the grip power wire.


You're in luck. Just before I traded in the 50R I took a lot of close up component pics and measured 17 measurements for my own amusement to compare them later on to the F800ST. Things like overall length and/or width of the cylinders, handlebars, footpegs, city cases, signal lights, seat, fueltank, forktube spread, muffler, etc.

A quick answer about the bars is the F800ST bars are narrower overall by 1.25" measured at the bar end extremities and much lower than the 50R bars. The F800 bar rise appears to be minimal at just over a handlebar diameter. The 3rd pic below shows the latest mod to raise the bars enough to be very near to being upright comfortable.

Rob, thanks for info and clarification re handlebar end fitting. Will pull end off Mrs. Sweatmark's F800S handlebar when time permits.

Looking for someone who sells bar end adapter to allow for R1100/1150 heated grips using aftermarket handlebar.

If not available, then back to Rockster bar, which has similar rise as F800ST bar, less pull-back.

I am new here.

I have a 2011 F800ST and would like to move the bars up and back a bit.
I don't like the look at all of bar backs so I am interested in switch the bars.
From what I understand I may be able to use a set of R1150R handlebars.

Has anyone done this?

Seems lik a number of R1150R guys switch their bars for lower bars like the F800ST one.

Thoughts ?

There are many changes you will have to make if you go that route. Throttle cable, clutch cable, switchgear wiring and the front brake line will have to be rerouted, modified or replaced. That's prolly the main reasons BarBacks, that install with almost no mods, are so popular and much less hassle and total cost.

When I first rode a F800ST I was sure that BarBacks would be the 1st mod I would make. Then I found it wasn't that annoying -and- I found that rotating the bars backward solved the problem for me. Bear in mind it will be necessary to redrill 2 new indexing holes for the left side switchgear so it is where it belongs. The right side switchgear is screw clamp adjustable, so no drilling is needed. The thumbnail below takes you to the fullsized pic showing how much my bars were rotated from the bar's punchmark to the white dashed indicator bisecting the clamp gap.

I decided to go the bar back route and do your mod as well.

I have an 8 year old daughter that I will take on mini trips.
I figured it would be easier for her to hold onto me the more upright I was.
This in addition to a top case with backpad seems the safest.

I ended up installing a set of R1150R bars on my F800ST.

I now have for sale a new set (take-offs) of 2011 F800ST bars including the OEM bar-end weights.
These are in perfect, new condition with no marks or scratches at all.
