BMW R1100R - how to lower the gear selector?

Hi Everyone,

i've got an R1100R.. I'm a tall bloke (187cm).. I've fitted a peg lowering kit, and now need to lower the gear selector.. which as far as I can see means I need a longer one of these (the whole thing, with the ball-end connections on both ends):

Anyone know of a piece that is adaptable from one of the other BMW motorbikes? The dealer has said "look around and try and find one", but none of the breakers / recyclers have any that I can look at.

TIA!

How about using the screw part of that ball joint?

Hi omg1010,

Tried it, the stock one is it's at max and still not low enough for comfortable shifting (there's only about 1cm of play possible in the stock one). It's why I'm looking for a longer one.

From what I can see on all the motorcycle breakers (wrecking yards?) online, they won't sell just the threaded rod bit and won't show me a photo of it either. (I'm in Europe)

Cheers

Maybe you could use a selector rod from another type:

Take a look at RealOEM.com :
Original R1100R : Selector rod L=43MM 23411340306
Alternative R1150RT: Selector rod L=53MM 23417654521
Alternative R1100S : Selector rod L=48MM 23412333265
