A Winter Ride on the Roadster

Howdy fella's, I thought I'd share my ongoing story over here since I'm currently in Mexico on a two up camping adventure in Mexico on the trusty R1200R.
As always the R is performing wonderfully, even taking us over hundreds of miles on dirt on the actual Baja 1000 course with no issues.
Here's the link that will put you in the middle of my story, about when the Roadster comes into the picture.
Salute!
Finn

Hay Finn, sounds pretty adventurous, and it is, to those who can't drop evrything and just go.
I'm 50 and been there done that.
I'm guessing by one of your photo's that you are somewhere between 35 to 40?
Anyway I hope you have a fall back sceam! meaning that you wont end up pushing one of those supermarket trolleys around in later life because of some foolish mistakes.
By all means have great fun but please remember to save for that rainy day.
I have seen the pic's of you laying the R12R over in the corner and have to say absolutely fantastic.
I admire such a rider.
Thanks for sharing this adventure, just great!

Yes, Joe, don't forget to diversify your portfolio. Big showoff.

Awesome Ride Report, Joe!
And FWIW, I'd hang on to Nancy for dear life. A girl like that doesn't come around every day. Or every century.

Who's to say that Joe isn't already better of with regard to planning for the future? Hell, isn't the world suppose to end in 2012 anyway??
Keep livin' the dream Joe!!
Hell knows it's too late for me, ll I can do now is gain inspiration and/or live vicariously thorough the ride reports of others.
cheers,

AMEN!!! Nancy appears to be a "keeper". BTW, am way jealous of your ability to just leave and ride. Enjoy all of your bike reports!! Stay safe.

I greatly enjoy your photography and writing style. I also think I need a vacation (or glasses): I just read "A winter ride on the toaster".

Hey Joe:
Next time you scoot through south Louisiana and blow up something, give a call. We can rescue you easily and have a great BMW shop in Baton Rouge. Besides, on a cold day I generally have some great gumbo in the house, and occasionally I get energetic and bake fresh bread !

Bravo Finn!
I too am enjoying your adventures (vicariously) so please keep the updates and great photos coming - a nice bit of modern day motorcycle zen.
Q: LostRider that you are, do you pack a durable laptop to upload your photos and maintain your website? Or do you squeeze it all through an iphone when you get a hotspot?

Thank you all for the kind comments and thoughtful advice!
Glad I could help some of you through these tough times when it's too cold to ride...

I know I liked reading about riding while I was stuck in Chicago.
Doug, I actually thought of getting in touch with you, figuring the kind of hospitality you speak of... one of these days! Thank you for the offer, once again.
As for posting, I havde a MacBook Air 11" with me to process photos and update my story.
It's simply amazing, and the perfect Mac for me.
Update coming soon.
Cheers!

The Winter Madness continues.
JB Weld or Quick Steel should be a part of any Boxer rider's toolkit.

Yikes -- Hope the leg behind it fared better!
Great ride, stories, and pics.
And if the 12R is still trucking along with a hole in the side while the GS is lame with a leak we surely have a winner.

That is a neat picture that portrays a well used motorcycle with a multitude of miles and stories. I just hope you two are safe and sound.
Always enjoy your RR's and look forward to more.

Good tip.
Ditching my wimpy factory guards to ride raw, as Max Friz intended..

Am I the only one that noticed the smiley face etched into the JB-Weld?

The JB Weld is a great tip. I'm going to add some to my kit.
