Hi all.

Thought I'd take time to introduce myself
Long time rider, started on a Bridgestone 125cc, then a Bultaco 175. So you got an idea how old I am LOL. Been thru most everything since from English to HD and then BMW's about 12 years ago. Started with K's then went to GS's.

Wife quit ridding so I sold the GS ADV and bought a Miata. Kinda fun but NOT, plus takes up too much room in the garage in a snowy environment.

So I bought a old style Concours, sorry but the worst bike for handling corners and comfort I ever owned. Took forever to sell too.

Then last fall spotted a R850R for resonable money and bought it. The joy of riding is back.

Glad to find this spot as there is really little info on the R 850 R.

So a big hello from corn country. Iowa 321 miles with two curves.

Howdy! Are you in Utah? I saw a Concours for sale locally and the guy said he bought a BMW. I thought the Concours looked like a really nice bike.

The Connie does have nice lines, and some trick stuff like the pop out bunge hooks.

When I got the bike it had the known by Connie owners head shake. Dropping speed thru about 55 to 50 mph the handlebars do a shimmy that would make a pole dance envious, not so much when your hangin on to them though.

Got that straightend out with head bearing tighting and correct tires, but still felt really light tracking thru corners and just kinda waddled from lack of frame stiffness IMO.

Thought it was enough of a cult bike I wouldn't have much trouble getting rid of it, but the new model was hot then.

Oh well happiness is owning a BWM, at least for me.

Welcome to the group! Pretty quiet group, but good info available if you search.

Gonna be 75F tomorrow here in NC, so time to ride!

I wish you much joy of your R850R.

I, too, am getting on in years, got an R850R and fell seriously in love with it. It is just a joy to ride.
