After 8,000mi I noticed that thr blue paint was blistering on my right rocker cover around the plug wire.Bike now has 14,000mi.it's an '05.
Dealer said bike is not running hot and all is well.Is it another case of "They all do that" BMW says too bad,bike is out of warrenty (please ..no grief for spelling..learing disability,you know)or what?
Anybody repaint there covers black,or strip them down to natural?

You know I've been riding for 50 years,had 22 bikes,even went cross country on a Norton;but I have had 2 (modern) BMW's and each one has left me on the side of the road.this one with broken quick disconnects,What gives?

The blistering affect some, but not all dual spark bikes (in a similiar fashion to the fork paint). It appears to be a result of contamination during the painting process. Some powder coat the covers, others, like myself paint which makes any touch-ups easier. I used a citrus bases stripper, engine primer and engine enamel (baking and light sanding between coats).

Join the club, i have yet to sort this issue out, yet it doesnt diminish my enjoyment of my bike. Cliff W. in western Pa.

The blue paint on the Rocksters non-steel parts is a disaster; the painted parts of your fork (lower fork parts and T-part) will start blistering soon....

Still it is a pretty good bike.All I did to it was remove the orange tiger stripes,put on a Akrapovic slip on,pull the charcoal can (not required in my state) and bob the rear fender.

Still looking for a shorter handlebar so I can put on my bar end mirrors.

The blistering has only occurred on my cylinder head covers so far. I hope everywhere else on the bike stays intact. Once I can afford to I will probably pull the covers and have them repainted.
