Cant wait to get my stock seat re-padded, but can't take the time out of riding season to send it to Sargent. Found a local shop that re-does bike seats, may give it a shot.

Stock at the moment due to the lack of funding, but maybe over the next winter i will get either sargent or wunderlich

Stock at the moment. It tilts forward into the tank, and has uncomfortable edges on each side of the pocket where my butt goes. I've got about 3K miles on it, and I don't mind it as much as before...but I still don't like it.

So I'm riding up to Rich's in Kingston WA next week for a rebuild. I liked what he did to BigEasy's and Peckhammer's bikes.

I bought the comfort saddle at a time when there was skepticism that it even existed (See my post Jul 05, 2009) for my 2009 R1200R. I am completely satisfied with the long (or short) ride comfort, the height, the riding position, ... . Anyone want to buy my old high bench seat?

Rick Mayer custom leather, two up version. It's excellent. I can ride all day with no discomfort.

Went from the high standard to the high comfort just before a big trip last year. I like the high comfort saddle!

After putting about 3,500 miles on the stock seat, it just had to go. Looked around at the options (custom included) and (1) don't live near any of the folks that do custom seats, and (2) didn't want to try my luck at a custom seat by mail, so... I went with a Corbin based on what I've heard from different friends of mine. I was warned that it would feel VERY firm but would break in to my body after about 1500 miles. Ordered it online and was notified they'd have to make one and to expect a 3-4 week wait. The next day, I got an e-mail with a FedEx tracking number - they must have found one.

I've had it for about three weeks and have about 1,000 miles on it. From the first time my butt graced the leather, the Corbin seat was much, much more comfortable than stock, and getting more and more comfortable with each ride. Memorial Day weekend will truly tell the story for me - taking a trip abt 500 miles each way. So far, longest trip has been 300 miles round trip in one day. (When to MaxBMW in CT to demo the K1600GT - amazing ride BTW)

Observations:
- As advertised by Corbin, the seat fits VERY snugly on the bike. I get it placed, and have to turn the key while giving the seat a moderate whack downwards with my fist to get it to latch. Just giving the seat a whack without turning the key in the lock first will not latch the seat.
- Removing the seat is a similar procedure. The fit is so tight that you can't just turn the key. Instead, you have to put rotational tension on the key (i.e. start to turn it, but instead of forcing it where it stops, just hold it in place), and then with tension on the key give the seat a whack downwards and the key will finish rotating and unlock the seat.
- Riding position: The Corbin is about 1.5 inches taller than stock (regular height). Not a problem for me because I'm 6'3" tall with a 34" inseam - in fact I welcomed the extra room. Also, I sit about an inch further back. Again, I didn't mind, just took getting used to on the first ride.

Would I buy a Corbin again? So far, after only 1,000 miles, I definitely would. The price was right - less than $500 incl shipping If I feel differently after Memorial Day weekend, I'll post again, but honestly I don't expect to. A few of the guys from the club have sat on it and were surprised at how comfortable it was out of the box.

15K on a Corbin. No plans or reason to change it. Gets more comfortable every mile.

Mine came used with a BILL MAYER seat and I find it very good for 1 or 2 up riding. Also, it looks a lot more stylish than some of the "double saddle" types and is made with black leather top. Last summer I did a 2 week 7000 mile trip with it and a small Aerostich sheepskin cover. No complaints.
I'm 69, 5-8, 155lb, 29'' inseam. YRMV.

I picked the first choice, stock r1200r, but on the 2011 model I think the stock seat is different than prior years...more like the comfort seat.

BMW Comfort Saddle. I wouldn't ride without it. A vast improvement over the stock seat.

The stock seat is convex shaped and feels like you are sitting on a cut-stone, Gothic arch. The Comfort Saddle is flat and feels like you are seated in a chair.

25k on a Corbin and have many 6-8 hr days with no discomfort.

My first R1200 R, The Beautiful Blue Roadster had a stock low seat that was quite comfortable. My current R 1200 R Classic Black Roadster came with what looks like the exact same seat. But it is definitely not as comnfortable. It may have something to do with breaking in: the old seat had 6,000 miles on it; the new one is under 2,000. I am hoping for continued improvement as there is no budget for a new seat in the immediate future.

On a brighter note, the new engine is smoother, especially in the 3 - 4,000 pm range, and it gets way better mileage: 54 mpg loaded for camping riding on secondary roads, compared to 48.

All in all I'm happy with a better motor and worser seat.

BMW Comfort seat. Came with the bike and I like it so far. I've only done a couple hundred mile runs and no complaints.

On Rick Meyer for now; had factory std low bf; then next was Low Comfort. I think the current Rick Meyer may be where I wind up. Put 300 miles on Rick Meyer last weekend and it felt right. My have low comfort for sale soon.

My new 2011 came with the comfort seat, which is what I'm using now. I've got to say, it is the first stock seat I haven't replaced the week I bought the bike. I buy Corbins for all my bikes. I've never tried a Mayer, Sergeant, or anything else because I've never had a desire to after the Corbins. I will eventually get a Corbin for this bike as well but the comfort seat is actually decent enough that I'm not in a huge rush.

Perhaps your survey is a little incomplete. You do know that there's Rick Meyer and Bill (or Rocky) Meyer, quite different saddles made by estranged brothers. Ricks's have more seams, while Rocky's are quite minimalist, with only one seam. Mine is a Bill Meyer saddle, custom-made in Ojai, and I'm quite happy with it. The saddle on my previous bike was a Corbin, which I had for 15 happy years.
