Clutch, FD and Pivot Bearings vs New Bike

Problems and a tough choice we will all have to face someday.
Owner of a 2002 BMW R1150R with ABS and 40k miles. Last November the wiring harness fried (damn wire ties), I dissembled and installed a new harness and has been working great since ($550). Although now my clutch is about gone, pivot and FD bearings need to be replaced (clutch wont engage until 0.5in from top of pull, a LOT of play in the wheel and creaking from the pivot). Price to have local BMW mechanic replace is running at ~$2000 min (new bearings, clutch assembly) I may also have to replace or service clutch slave and brake/clutch bleed.
The tough choice I am now forced with is to pour more cash into the bike now and in the future or try and sell as is/part out and pick up a newer bike with less miles. The new bike would most likely be a K1200S but still open to others.
Any thoughts, opinions, and or experience would be very much appreciated. (I am a broke PhD student in chemistry so not lots of dough but love riding, my budget is $2k plus what I could get from the 1150R)
