All of a sudden, my R's clock (2004, same year as the the bike) is running slow – at the least 10 to 15 min per hour. That means every time I ride I cringe: setting the darn thing before I take off, and setting it during rides too (generally, day rides under 10 minutes feel too short for me, and that slow clock is like an eye magnet).

Bike starts and runs fine, and is on a Deltran Battery Tender when not in use.

Any idea what could be the culprit?

And what to do except buying a new clock?

Manually adjust once in a while, use GPS time, or put something new in the clock hole:

I've not heard of one being that slow. Most (like many clocks today) are pretty much dead on. I don't know of any way to adjust it. I doubt it's worth repairing. I would think a replacement from BMW would be pricey. If you really need a clock in there (I've grown to depend on mine as well) I'd look for something to put in the hole as a replacement. Try this:

edit---I just read a 5 yr old post on the BMWMOA forum on just your problem. Fella said his was losing 4 hours a week. He removed and then re-inserted the clock. All was well afterwards. He thinks it was a poor ground. The physically moving the clock cleaned up the ground connection. Makes sense as most of these quartz clock movements are pretty reliable.

I would agree with the removal and cleaning of the connections. The quartz movement is inherently accurate I would blame a bad lead to the clock starving the clock movement the power it needs to move the hands. I love having a clock on this bike and would hate to loose it.
