Helmet Wind Blocker

Can anyone give a real world opinion regarding a wind blocker such as this one:

I'm planning a 750 mile, one day trip next month and I'm curious as to the actual noise cancelling effect of these wind blockers. I don't expect silence but if low frequency noises were reduced it would certainly help.

that makes sense....I know I get alot of windnoise from my leather jacket due to it's collar design. I don't get as much noise from my mesh jacket.

let's hear a report from a brit. is this available in the US?

Yup rd, that would be too hot. I can't find the Windstopper in the US but Cycle Gear sells what appears to be the very same thing by Motrax:

I wear a Schuberth when I ride my BMW, but when riding my Sportbikes I wear a Scorpion EXO-700 with a wind skirt. the skirt really seems to hold down the noise and other wind effects:

I've got a skirt too.....

I've got a few helmets...my BMW flip system helmet has a skirt...I like it.

I have another normal full face helmet without the skirt...big difference...and very drafty....and more noisy.

My new BMW full face has a skirt and although hard to get on and off the shirt stops any draft and some noise.

I say give it a go.

I'm going to give it a try. I believe I'll get the Motrax brand from Cycle Gear.

I have one, ordered from CycleGear a while back, but it won't work on a flip-face, so I've never used it. Sorry, can't comment on it's effectiveness, but a Google search turned up a scholarly paper on noise reduction that seemed to endorse the concept of it.

I find that just a scarf wrapped around your neck works wonders in killing that wind roar.

Now, as long as I don't "Martha Graham" myself right off the damn bike It'll be complete success!

I have a Shoei TZ1, size medium, and the windjammer would never stay on the helmet. During the ride it just rolls off. It uses a sticky rubber-cement-like material that flakes off.

For the two minutes that it did stay intact it did limit "booming".

I ordered direct from the website above and paid in euros.

My BMW helmet has that sort of arangement and it does help cut the noise. Try this for yourself as you are riding along bring your left hand up under the helmet to cover some of the underside. You should noitce quite a differance particully if your hand is near the chinstrap. But on the other hand I found the lack of venterlation means more misting issues. Good for fine dry days, but then you lose cooling breze. It's a no win situation.

I picked up one of those last year used it once and tossed it in the closet, it just did not work for me.

I think I'll try a towel wrap around the bottom of the helmet first and see if that makes any difference. If it does then I might go for the windstopper.
