I have the option to buy a new 2006 K1200R which is non-abs, non-esa, no heated grips, but has a luggage rack for $11,800. It is basically stripped, but most other places seem to be quoting in the high 12s and 13s for the same config. Is this a great deal, or just ok ?

I haven't got down to grinding numbers at the dealership, but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I will be buying a stripper, except I really like the sport wheels. I'd have to say, that if the salesman offered that price to me, I'd be a buyer. My local dealership had 7 KRs on the floor last week, the cheapest list price there was $14,300, they all had heated grips. Where are you located?
Good luck!!!

Sounds pretty good to me. Remember BMW had discounted the KR $2,000 recently. They may have extended the discount beyond the original "purchase by 12/31/2005" deadline...

Good price. If the bike suits, take it.
Rivi, Who discounted 2K from a 2006 KR? Not BMW NA. A particular dealer?

I heard BMW was letting dealers put small amounts of miles on the KRs and then deep discounting them as demos, this was at year end. My dealer won't confirm that because they don't do demo K bikes, but were quick to tell me they would pay off my bike that is ~ 2K upside down.
I also saw demos discounted on the cycletrader. Maybe someone else has more info.
