Warranty & Corrosion

Hi everyone this is my first post.
I have just put down a deposit (BMW Main Dealer) on a Rockster with some quite bad corroision to the fork bridge and ends. The bike is nearly 2 years old, and still under warranty.
How likely is it that this will be fixed under warranty? the BMW dealer is not sure but, said it probably would be fixed, and is making enquiries about this.
Has anyone else had this fixed under warranty?
Thanks

Keep us advised. I will be suprised if the warranty covers the problem. Where and how was the bike stored during the two years of prior ownership?
Good luck.

I'd second Jim's guess - unlikely to be covered under warranty. That said, why don't you just get the seller (who is a dealer, right?) to fix it as a condition of the sale?

I put the deposit down on the 7th Feb 2006, and should pick up the bike this week 12 March. Seems a bit slow, but they have changed the fork legs under warranty.
So anyone with a bike in warranty, with corrosion or bubbling paint get down to your dealer, and get them changed. It's the only way BMW may invest in getting this right in the future.
Thanks to all for the advice. Great forum site.

Good for you, sounds like your dealer was taking good care of a customer.
BTW, I have had BMW's since the 70's and the frequency of problems with corrosion or bubbling paint are minimal. Take a look at the front forks on any stock Harley if you want to see some corrosion and pitting.
Enjoy a great bike.
