I found this offer on the vfrdiscussion website. Check out the link. At the time I posted this, they had about 830 tyres left.

There are several important conditions, especially this one: You must purchase your tire from a Parts Unlimited dealer.

Is this the same tire that is supposed the be the Pirelli version of the Z6? If so, I might try to take advantage of that! I will be needing tires soon.

From the blurb on the Pirelli website, the Diablo Strada is their new sport-touring radial or as they call it the 'Extended Mileage Sport'. There's another sport-touring radial called the Sport Demon but it seems to be a lower mileage tyre.

Pirelli vehemently denies that the Strada is the same as the Z6. Supposedly the Strada is quite long lived and sticks real nice.

I hate to ask a stupid question but I can't help myself. What is a Parts Unlimited dealer? :

Parts Unlimited is a distributor for many motorcycle products. If you step into a dealer to order an accessory, they will invariably turn to one of several phonebook sized catalogues on their counter - Parts Unlimited is one such catalogue.

Hope this helps.

You probably have read this before, but just in case, Pirelli owns Metzeler so it is reasonable to assume that much of the Z6 technology and Strada have common pedigree.

Which is, of course, exactly what I meant but didn't write. Didn't everyone read the last tire thread that mentioned that? I think it was on page 4! :P

I am calling my local shop today to check this out. Will let you guys know the results.

Perfect timing - I just ordered a new rear tire last week, and no, it wasn't a Pirelli.

Just ordered the rear and will be sending off the form for my free front in a few minutes. I'll post on what happens.

I had sworn loyalty to the Z6 but since the Pirelli is supposed to be the same tire (or close) and the same company, it isn't really cheating, is it? :?

Ask your wife's sister.
Don't think so! The tires won't shoot me for cheating!

Well, I went and took the bait, I will be needing new tires in a few thousand miles, so thought I would try these. I hope they work as well as the Z6's. BTW this place has a good price on these tires, http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/it ... division=6 also, they list Parts Unlimited as a source for parts. Only $120 shipped to your door. Add the $25 for Pirelli to ship the free tire to you, and you have a set for $145.

Thanks for the reference, Don!

I've ordered my rear tire today also and already sent request to pirelli for free front one. Let's see how it works.

BTW... For everyone who decided to go with that Pirelli offer...

[1]: Use 239410 promotion code at motorcycle-superstore.com to get $5 off your shipping.

[2]: The Pirelli promotion web site is problematic. I found two bugs there:

2.1: There is no option to choose 170 tire at the page where you must provide information about the rear tire you purchased. Only 180 and 190 choices are listed (three 180 and one 190).
SOLUTION: To choose 170 just check the 2nd option from the top.

2.2: If you have different billing and shipping addresses, verify that the form you printed at the end has correct shipping address. (In my case it was a strange combination of billing and shipping addresses).
SOLUTION: Well.. I used some HTML knowledge to generate the form with correct shipping address. ;-) But if you are not familiar with that stuff and do not have access to your web browser cache files, you better e-mail Pirelli and verify that they have the correct shipping address.

My 2 cents.

Thanks for the info, guys. I ordered one. I'm looking forward to replacing my Z6's. I preferred the Pilot Roads anyway. We'll see about the Stradas.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the tip Marcus! I ordered my tire yesterday and sent off for the free front. Apostle's post about errors on the Pirelli web site are spot on, but like he says you just check the 2nd from the top. I hope these tires are close to the Metzlers, but hey you can't beat a free front.

You're welcome, Joel.

This is probably the first time I've been able to contribute something worthwhile to the forum instead of whining about problems or asking for help :D !!!

I've been very happy with my Pirelli's...I'm on my second set now and will get them again next time.

btw...Pirelli did have a special offer down under..Buy a set and they'll send you a ticket to the World Superbikes at Phillip Island...big deal!..

I guess it's better than nothing but I didn't know about it until just now after the race has been...bugger!.. :D

I sent off for my free tire last week but still can't log onto the site and check the status of my tire. It says my email address and password can't be found. It is possible they haven't entered it into the system yet. Anyone else been able to find out the status? My order has been mailed for 9 days or so. I hope it gets processed before they run out of tires!
