Filling suggestions

Post by Ebet »

This post won't make gasoline/petrol any cheaper :-( but I hope it's useful nonetheless.

A while back I posted a question about how best to pump gasoline with those hoses that have the heavy plastic covers over the nozzles. Got some good suggestions here, like the "peace sign" method of making a "V" with your fingers to hold back the plastic cover.

I have since figured out yet another method that works great for me (muscle mass-challenged rider). After I pull up to the pump, I pull the hose all the way around the bike so that the bike is between the hose and the pump. Facing the pump, I put the hose in the tank backwards, so that the handle that's pushed down is closest to the pump. (Hope that makes sense!) This set-up somehow makes it very easy to retract the plastic hose cover and depress the pump handle without requiring three hands. You also get a clear view of the pump as it drains the money from your wallet (sigh). Anyway, I hope this tip is useful. It has made visiting the gas station more pleasant, which is not a bad trick these days.
