hasta la vista...... For the first time in 30 years I'll be without a BMW motorcycle. Last weekend I began paperwork to trade my Roadster on a 2006 Harley Davidson Road Glide (Fire engine red, so the brain dead cagers can see me)
The crappy streets and roads in and around Tucson got me riding the Gold Wing over the R1150R. Since late December I logged some 6300 miles on the new Wing and only 300 miles on the BMW. I was getting beat up on the Roadster and the wind buffeting at long distance speed was another issue.
The Road Glide is 200 lbs lighter than the Wing and some 200lbs heavier than the Roadster. Road Glide has a longer wheel base, a frame mounted fairing and it handles much like the GL1800 and it soaks up the street ripples with ease.
In the past three months four riding chums have traded their BMW motorcycles for a Harley. Now I don't go with the flow, but I do like the Milwauee machine--IMHO it's not a bad product. In these days of product liability and greedy lawyers, nobody makes an unreliable motorcycle anymore.
So, we will see what happens,
Ed..

Ed, the truth will set you free! We all know you are headed back to the convenience store near Tucson as soon as you get the Harley!
Have fun on your new bike it sounds like it will be beautiful (and probably loud). Vaya Con Dios!
A true story....
Picture the scene: Late Tuesday afternoon in a convience store near Tucson.
Me--Wearing not so clean Savanah II red jacket, faded jeans and carrying a white shorty helmet. Face is windburned and hair is a mess. I'm reaching into cooler for a bottle of water.
She--Very attractive, forty something, nice slim build, seems very friendly and no wedding ring.
She--"Nice day for a ride".
Me--"Uh, yeah".
She--"My ex had a Harley, I love to ride a Harley, I just get so excited when I'm riding a Harley, yada, yada, etc, etc.......so on and so on....
Me--"Yeah, Harley makes a great motorcycle". "I....."
She--breathlessly says.."So, do you ride a Road King, Ultra Glide....you look like you have lot's of money"?
Me--"I'm on a BMW Roadster today". "I also ride a Gold Wing".
She--"Oh, you don't ride a Harley?"
Me--"Uh, no" "But I'm thinking of getting one". (BIG lie)
She--Turns and walks away.
What is it with these women and their love for Harley Davidson Motor Company?
Ed..

fal man - (nice gun, BTW), you needn't sacrifice anything. Just add to the stable, like you're doing.
ebiker - enjoy the Harley! It's a bike to be enjoyed in its own right. Stick around the board - I need all the help I can get in dealing with the criticisms
