Burned

Post by B52G »

Talked to BMW shop today. They said they could repair harness if damage is not to severe. I can imagine the bill will be a wopper. Talked to an independent bike garage that works primarily on HD but will work on any make. Comes highly recommended. He said he wasn't interested in either repairing or replacing harness. Have a suspicion if it was winter he wouldn't be so fast to turn down. Burned wire appears to be right turn signal wire according to wiring diagram. If so I don't see how Moto lights could have been a contributing factor.

Hmmmm

From your original description it sounded like an inadvertantly stripped wire during some previous installation (or maybe from the factory on a bad German assembly day). Eventually, that shorted.

Was this a used bike you acquired?

I agree, doesn't sound as if the Motolights installation caused the problem.

Best of luck.
