lowered gear shift lever broke

Hello fellow beaksterites,
If anyone has lowered foot pegs and has the lowered gear shift lever, beware that the flange may break off the lever. I was riding to my dealer (luckily) when my lever broke off at the weld point. I McIvered it with a piece of string so I could shift and get to the dealer and he welded it back together, but it scared the hell out of me when I went to shift and there was nothing there.
I do not know what brand the shift lever is since i did not put it on. it was already installed when I bought the bike. It is a skinnier steel lever rather than the heavier cast aluminum type of the original. I do have the original lever and I am considering taking off the peg owering kit and jsut putting the original gear lever back on.
In a related topic, does anyone know of a lowered brake pedal for the R?
