If you have the new ('04) gel battery in your 1150 you MUST get the GEL charger from BMW (made by Deltran).....I made the mistake of using the Battery Tender Jr., and it toasted my battery. Do NOT use your Battery tender Junior with the recent BMW battery......alternatively, get a non-gel technology maintenance free battery........maintenance free cause who wants to take the tank of to fool with the battery.

I have used the Battery Tender Plus for gel batteries for a year now and have had nothing but good results.

I have an '04 with a gel.

 I use an Optimate III on my 1150R with gel battery with no problems. Very good unit.
Argue your limitations and they are.

I also use the Battery Tender Plus for gel batteries. No problems in over a year of service.

Cheers!

The marine industry has used gel batteries for years. Albeit, not the cheapest marketplace either, you'll find a wider array of choices for chargers that will work equally as well. Might try http://www.surplusunlimited.com or http://www.westmarine.com . West will be higher but you can shop more choices there easierand then find it elsewhere online.
