Has anyone tried these? Or use them? I was wondering if they work even close to the claim. Looks like a good idea, though.

With these and the lower deflectors, you can be even closer to an RT-lite!

What is the function? Deflect air away from you? Keep you warmer in the Winter? Just curious.

I have them on my Roadster and for me they were one of the best upgrades so far. Before I got the tank wings the helmet buffeting was almost unbearable especially on the interstate or a windy day. I was considering getting rid of the bike because I did not feel safe, after I got my tank wings all of that went away. I get plenty of air but the helmet buffeting is almost completely gone and the Roadster is here to stay.

My helmet buffeting went away with the addition of a Laminar Lip.

I too was ready to bail out of my 'R' due to helmet buffeting. I installed the tank wings and it transformed the bike. It is now quiet enough behind my Parabellum shield to listen to the radio comfortably and virtually all the helmet buffeting is gone. In the extremely hot weather we have been having in the deep south this summer, they block a little more air than would be ideal, but the lack of buffeting is well worth it. Mine are permanantly installed.

The Aeroflow wings are nice idea but will not work well with hand guards. That is, you'll have rotate your handlebars to gain enough clearance lock to lock. I wasn't willing to rotate my handlebars or remove my handguards (in cold weather) for it was less comfortable. I sent the wings back but Aeroflow was less than nice and charged me too much to restock.

The wings seemed to be sturdy enough but, all in all, a bad experience for me with Aeroflow service after the sale!

Thanks for that input. I'm planning for handguards come winter.

To knock off that wind coming up under the bars I was thinking of a pair 4" lamps, one fog and one driving mounted on those slick brackets that hang off the headlight ears. Thought that they might block some of it?

BTW, I'm presently running with a BMW touring shield.

those look interesting. i use to have some troubles with buffeting, but not much trouble lately. those look like they could make for more comfortable ride anyway.

anybody have some pics available? i would like to see them installed from some different angles.

Just a quick interjection...

The buffetting is lessened considerably for me with the addition of a tank bag.

I am running the Sport screen with a Laminar Lip and. Here is a quick picture that I took last night in the garage. If you would like better photos let me know and I will do a better job this week end.

How well the wings work depends on lot of variables, perhaps most importantly, what kind of windshield you are using. I find they work pretty well with my Givi fairing, they really calm the dirty, turbulent air coming off the top of the oil coolers.

What were the results?

I'm using the tank wings and they're clearly the best upgrade I've done. When I bought my Roadster, the BMW touring shield was mounted. Helmet buffeting was severe, so much so I thought I'd have to change bikes. I traded my touring shield for a sport shield whch didn't help and even rode naked (the bike that is!). My last mod before the tank wings was to change the shield to a tall Parabellum. This didn't relieve the buffeting either. I should say here that I'm 6'3" and about 250lbs.

Through posts on this site a year or so ago, I learned that the turbulent air was actually coming up over the oil coolers from the front fender area. Basically, no windshield can correct this. I experimented with some cardboard held (alternatingly of course) below my bars and above the coolers to test the theory and was suprised to find that eliminating dirty air on either side seemed to reduce buffeting by 75%. I made the purchase and mounted the tank wings easily with industrial strength (supplied) automotive velcro which allows me to remove the wings when I wax the tank.

Interesting that someone has noted a tank bag helped (sure - this interupts the "dirty" air before it hits you).

I have a black Roadster and smoke wings. They are barely noticable. I'm now using a Parabellum Scout fairing. I have a 10 inch shield for the Scout in warmer weather, and a 19 shield for long rides or cooler months. These two attach interchangably onto the Scout in no more than ten minutes. I ride in nice smooth air in sppeds to 90 (and don't really go over that much). I couldn't be happier than I am with the tank wings. IMHO, forget any other accessory that prevents you from mounting these and get these now!

Thanks for posting those nice pics. Did you install the BarBacks to gain clearance for the GS Handguards to clear the Wings? Do you know if they'll hit the wings without BarBacks installed?
