.........but don't you think it is kind of odd that a whole bumper can just fall off a car without somewhat of a major hit to it? I mean just a nudge surely can't knock a bumper off, right? Pics below. BTW, ignore the shopping cart in the background. Don't ask.
But how much do you think it will cost to put it back on? It shouldn't have to be painted, right?

I saw this happen to a friend not long ago..it was a front bumper on a new car..she just backed away from the kurb/gutter..and it must have got caught underneath..and it just popped off..her car was silver also.

I tried to pop it back on for her..I got it half on..it seems to have clips or something rather than screws and bolts..she still hasn't got it fixed even though a few mechanics have looked at it..she has duct tape holding it.

I saw a small van the other day that said on the side it was the Bumper Doctor..and they come to your house and fix your bumper if it gets damaged or pop's off..really..that's what you need.

Now tell us about that shopping cart..and why can't we ask about it..

I agree that they shouldn't fall right off. However, it might not take much of a tap with the right force to pop it off. They are meant to break away in an accident. That part is cosmetic, your real bumper is still attached to the car.

My guess is that you used either non-Infinity oil, a non-Infinity oil filter, or a non-Infinity shopping cart. Then again it may just be that "they all do that."

What kind of tires are those? Does it surge?

Could be one of those three. When I can get some help taking it in, I'll ask about those things.

I'd be pretty indignant at the dealership. If that bumper fell off on the highway it could easily kill a rider, or cause a fatal car crash for that matter, and besides feeling guilty the rest of your life for contributing to a fellow citizen's death you could get sued for a big number. I'd complain to the federal govt (the recall people, whoever they are), as a bumper falling off is a critical failure, even if it is not the structural part.

Good luck on getting it fixed. Now if I can find that phone number for reporting stolen grocery carts . . . . .

AND, BTW, don't ask about the cart, the car, the tires, the surging problems, or the brick by the cart either.

I'll leave you alone about those things, but I have to admit I'm curious about the hose in the drawer .... What's that all about?

I got the car (and it's bumper) to the auto repair place. The guy who estimated it said it was very easy for those things to come off and I could pull it off with my hands if I wanted to. As if!
So, I could pull it off with my hands, but it's going to take $240.00 to put it back on with theirs!!!

I kinda like it. Great avatar also. Somehow I think the silhouette of New Jersey wouldn't look as cool.

LonestaRR, hope things work out with the car...

I suspect it's designed to break fasteners when a bump sufficient to overload the 5mph shock absorbers happens. The shocks may have been damaged or the framework bent. I say that because Infiniti (Nissan) wouldn't make something that breaks off so easily . . . . or would they?

Maybe it's nothing more than a built Friday car.
