R1150R/Rockster Aftermarket mods

Ok, here is my deal. I want to get a new bike and my friend just got an '03 R1150R. He loves it so much it's becoming his life. I told him the other day that he is like a preacher on a mission to convert everyone to BMW. I'll have to admit that when I rode the bike I had a grin from ear to ear. Not to mention I had to try and keep it below 70mph.

I think the bike is great in every way but one. See, all the bikes I have owned (Ducati Monster 620i.e. <-- first bike, Suzuki SV1000S and now a '82 KZ750 with aftermarket exhaust. The first 2 I lost to my ex...bah!) sounded awesome. My KZ750 has way more bark than bite but I love setting off alarms with it. The R1150R on the other hand sounds super quiet. I don't need it to be bowel shaking but I would like it to have a nice growl.
Here are the questions I have:
1. Are there any exhaust systems that you'd recommend that reduce weight and make the bike sounds better?
2. What kind of mods can I get to reduce weight all around?
If there are any sites you can recommend that carry mods of all kinds let me know. I would like to personalize the bike as much as I can and I figure who else to go to but R1150R riders.

Good to see the preaching is working.
Any after market exhaust-complete, including cat removal, will save around 15lbs, and bring a smile to your dial.
Remus, Staintune, Ackropovic, all make systems for the Beemers, so plenty of choices.
Not a lot in my opinion, gained with this sort of bike in loosing weight, as it is the relaxed Torque riding benefits that makes people enjoy them.
If you want light weight, you are looking at the wrong sort of bike.
If you want to do a few 1,000mile days in relative comfort, buy a Beemer.
You wont wipe the smile off for a long time.

Easy-peasy....just take the exhaust can off and run with just the cat..get your mate to do it..it only takes a few minutes to do..and will do no harm.
You save weight and get a nice sound without being too loud...I've been running mine like this for about 4 yrs.

Yeah, the preaching is working. lol. Mainly I like torque out the yang. I don't need to do 180+mph. Though I love sportbike and hooligan bikes. I would like something that can ride a good distance and feel awesome. the BMW seems like the way to go.
Wait...I can remove the Can? Isn't there some USA or at least Califonia state law that says you can't?

DJ, I just realized looking at that great bike shot, how lucky you are to ride on the left which enables dismounting away from traffic, and have the bike lean away from traffic too. Or do you dismount from the right downunder?

I dunno about DJ, but most people down here that I know, dismount from the LH side.
I wont get into how some people dismount.

My dismount is a full rotating twist in the pike possition....
...yes left side..I once got off on the right side and almost fell over because it felt so odd.
DJ, I just realized looking at that great bike shot, how lucky you are to ride on the left which enables dismounting away from traffic, and have the bike lean away from traffic too. Or do you dismount from the right downunder?
That's why riding/driving on the left is actually the right ride...the side that the side stand is on proves it..

Have to admit - I dismount both sides, depending on situation, but DJ's right - being on the left is proper.

spend the money and go remus , i've had mine for about a year and a 1/2 and just got gack from a 1500 mile weekend and loved the sound the whole time

Allows for install of a full sized OEM hard case on the left, as well as the groovy sound !
