And times haven't changed much since then. Using very sophisticated computer software and tons of processing power we can almost predict next weeks weather!
BTW, those same computer models are the ones that have some people screaming for us to de-industrialize America because they predict a global warming trend hundreds of years from now. Hmmm...

In the mountains around here, they can't predict today's weather, much less next weeks! All that computer equipment just means today's forecast is more precise but less accurate!

Since NOAA is part of the Dept. of Commerce, we call our marine weather broadcasts "Chamber of Commerce" weather; it's nice until you get offshore!
