The Remus system, including Y pipe, that I put on my R, came off a R1150GS Adventure. Bolted straight on.
The R, and GS, are very much the same bike, except the GS has longer travel suspension.
The R uses the engine, trans, and rear end, out of the GS.
A combo of RS, and S front end.

You already have it nailed above, but yes.
I bought a used Remus Revolution endcan and y-piece two weeks ago from a Rockster owner which fitted straight onto my R. The guy said that he'd also tried it out for a day on his pals R1150GS with no issues.
I like the reduced weight, improved noise & mild performance benefit - it's better & worthwhile, but not miraculous IMO.

But as i understand it the seats are different and won't interchange. I contacted a few ebay sellers and said they thought the same thing regarding the seats.
...........is this in fact the way it is. Only a R1150R seat will work,......and nothing off any other BMW bike?

Yeah - don't stretch the analogy too far!
Some of the engine, transmission, exhaust components & switchgear are common, but that's about it.
