I was just cleaning my recently purchased 2004 roc and I found a loose hex nut just lying inside one of the side covers!

The nut is 3/8 of an inch (about 4 mm).

I checked a bit around, mostly at RealOEM.com, but I cannot figure out where it belongs.

Can anybody take a guess or knows where it could be coming from?

Thanks,

Max

Hmm....3/8" with about a 1/4" hole....I have had my bike appart on several occasions and I can't recall that particular size.

The thing that throws me off is that it is a thin nut.....this type nuts are typically used on light torque applications due to their limited number of threads....so I would have to guess that if it belongs to the bike is not from any major component but from a small plastic piece or bracket.

Good luck....... 8) 8)

errr - pass.

My guess would be it's from somewhere under the tank, but you could strip the bike to it's component particles before finding out exactly where!!

Hmmm, what size are the valve adjuster screws? They're flat. But not that big, I don't think.

I'm thinking that this fell out of someone's hand and they couldn't find it to put back where it came from, so a new nut was used in its place?

Thanks to all for the replies.

I found that the nut came off from one of the two bolts inside the back "mud flap" for lack of a better term. Right inside the tag support.

Amazing how the nut ended up where I found it, especially after a ride.
