Evaluation of Low Seat

We bought a low seat for the r1200r Friday. My wife is 5' 7" and found the regular seat too high, unless she was wearing boots with heels.
She rode the R with the new seat Saturday and Sunday for a total of about 575 miles.
The seat did the trick and she can now flat foot the bike with normal boots.
I was concerned the lower seat would mean less comfort. This was not the case. Both days, we only stopped for gas and something to eat. She says the seat is actually more comfortable. There is a deeper cut out before the pinion portion of the seat and wifey said she could scoot back and use it as a mini back rest.
She's happy with the purchase of the seat. Says it makes the bike perfect!
I'm gonna keep the stock seat in case she ever lets me ride the bike! The low seat would be too cramped for 6' 3".
It was 74F and Sunny in NC today. Lots of bikes out.

Give us a picture of the seat on the bike. I am 5'8" and on tip toes but not intimidated. I would how ever consider a low seat.

BCC - what is your wife's inseam? I'm 5'2 and have sat on the low and standard seats... oddly, both fit. The low fit a little better, but the standard is more narrow. I'm leaning toward the low, even though we haven't made a solid decision on buying the bike. I am already in lust with it..
Sidebar aside... what was that inseam again? And you said she flat-foots? I won't ever be able to flat-foot anything that's not a cruiser, and I'm alright with that LOL

Actually, she's 5' 6" (my mistake) & dunno inseam. She can't flat foot it without a bit of heel (1 1/2"). She just bought a pair of ICON Bombshell boots, which are suprisingly good even though they don't look like a motorcycle boot and she could probably flat foot anything now. Though she still prefers the low seat, fwiw.

Low seat... at the Seattle moto show. I could Flat foot it in my keens.
If it were mine I would still have Mr Ed rework the seat to narrow the flare as he did on my R1150 R.
It was WAY prettier in person than in pictures....but not enough to trade. Besides I just got mine the way I like it.

I have an R1200R on order with a low seat. I could have managed with the standard seat but thought it would be safer with the lower seat. I currently have a Honda VFR800 which I can manage with OK.
I am 5ft6in with short legs (I need turnups on my boxers).
I'll let you know how it goes, delivery is towards the end of March. Another dealer could only offer June delivery.
I did once have a 1989 R100RT which I found difficult to manoeuvre. It was my comeback bike after 30 a year biking layoff.

Let us know how it works for you. At 5'8" I am borderline. I have thought of getting another after market seat anyway so I kinda hate to waste money on a lower seat if it's not going to be superior to stock in comfort.

Looks like the R1200R is now a one piece seat? I like the way the 1150, especially with my Sargent seat, has a nice vertical jog between the front & rear seats. It gives a bit of a sense of security knowing you won't just slide off backwards, which was more important as a new rider (back in those "I'm going to get blown off this thing" days.
Does anyone have pixs of the sargent seat for the R1200R?

I just emailed Sargent two weeks ago. They advised that at this time they do not offer a seat for the 12R. They said that they do plan on building one, but could not offer any dates as to availability. I have the standard seat on mine. It seems quite comfortable at this stage however, my shop has ordered another 12R with the high seat and I will try that one out when it comes in, hopefully later this month. Another inch of foam probably won't hurt the comfort and another inch up is not an issue for me.

I've just done 75 miles having collected it last Friday. It actually doesn't seem as low as I had expected but it is fine. I can get the balls of my feet on the ground. I must try a standard bike again and compare.
It's cold and the roads are salty so it's not going out for a few days yet.
It feels comfortable and is well planted on the road.
I'll let you know more later.
