Sebring Y pipe

Post by Byrdguy »

I'm thinking of putting a Sebring Y pipe on my 02. Anybody running one of these? How is the quality and fitment? I want to use the stock can with it and am hoping to get a little better sound. What about performance change? Any advice or info will be appreciated.

I have a sebring on my rockster. The quality of the pipe is top notch.I noticed some improvement in power but the weight savings was the main reason to put one on for me.The stock muffler is a heavy pig also so I would recommend changing that also.I had a cheap supertrapp muffler left over from another bike that i put on mine.Sounds pretty cool and short enough to use full size system cases.

I have the Sebring Y-pipe/stock muffler on mine.
I'll second what reload says about using the Y but add that for me, the biggest plus was loosing the heat from the catalytic converter. The change in exhaust note with the the Y-pipe when using the stock can is small and very subtle - takes a little of the sewing machine-like sound away and maybe makes the exhaust note a tad deeper.
I'd like to replace the stock muffler with something a bit lighter but it a low priority.

Sebring Y pipe

I have a 2004 R1150R non-ABS. put the Y pipe and a Supertrapp can with 12 disks, took off the air horn and made a small air dam to trap air and force it into stock air box with a K&N filter. Runs great, will walk up to rev limiter in 6th gear no problem, had to work hard to do it with stock cat and can. Sound is OK, a bit loud if you don't keep the muffler packed. I use fiber glass insulation from Home Depot. Mine is a hi-pipe, watch out for left bag getting hot and burning:((
