Zumo installation issue

Wondering if anybody else has had this problem.

I am attempting to install my new Zumo 550. I am powering it directly off the battery terminals. I also have an Autocom Active 7 that is powered off the rear tail lights.

When I plug my Autocom audio lead into the Zumo and turn on the ignition for power I get a very loud buzzing in my headset.

Is this a problem with hooking it directly to the battery, or do I just need to go to Radio Shack and buy a filter of some sort?

AA,

I'm not sure why you're getting the buzz. All I can offer is how I did it and I'm not getting any buzz. I connected the Zumo's negative line to the battery - and the positive I ran to the fuse box, pulled the first fuse on the left side of the bike (the Instruments fuse, see pic below), stuck the stripped end of the wire into the front terminal of the fuse slot and reinserted the fuse.

Thanks to Taosports for the image:

Thanks, I will give this a try tomorrow.

I assume the front terminal is the one towards the inside of the fuse box or front of the motorcycle.

Anyways... love the Zumo so far. I have only used it in the car so far, but I am planning a ride from Sacramento to Santa Barbara next weekend so it will get the real test then.
