Re: No more drive (Another Spline failure)
If you have basic reading skills and ability the follow simple instruction, job will cost you about $300us. no doom and gloom. But if you just want to have people feel sorry for you..... I feel for you, so sad. Your choice. Thanks for the advice. $300 sounds much better, but I neither have the time...

Re: No more drive (Another Spline failure)
Sorry to hear it. Get it fixed - it's what credit is for... you'll regret not having the bike soon, a biker without a bike is just an 'er'. ;) Thanks riceburner! I would love to just bite the bullet and fix it. But they quoted me $2500+ for it to get fixed. The dealer actually denied the spline iss...

No more drive (Another Spline failure)
I have a 2006 R1150R with 62,000 Km's on it. I was riding with my girlfriend on the back last night in heavy traffic coming home from a day trip to the lake. I suddenly felt a 'pop' and lost drive. Loud grinding then squealing noise coming from the clutch area. I knew right away... splines gone. We ...

Re: What to do!!
I'm sorry, that is flat out robbery without a gun and mask. Politicians fleecing a minority (motorcycle riders) who are not numerous enough to unelect them. Are there any provinces not taken over by these types of criminals? Maybe you can sell the bike there, and get a RT or something with a differ...

Re: What to do!!
Are there other insurance agencies you can go to? I don't know how they can "re-classify" this bike after that amount of time. Sounds like they can "re-classify" any bike they wanted to so you would have to pay the sportbike premium. I would move to America! No other insurance o...

I wouldn't get enough selling it in the US. Lots of Canadians are buying bikes from the US... WAY cheaper.yao wrote:can you sell it to someone in the US?

Re: What to do!!
Is it possible to put all but the minimum insurance on hold during the winter months? Suspend all but comprehensive (fire/theft) while it's parked? I've done that before to save $. Or, like another poster suggested, maybe sell the bike to someone in the U.S. or another province? No, here in Manitob...

What to do!!
Hi, It's been a while since I've been on here. I missed (mostly lurking) in this great forum. I absolutely love my silver 2006 R1150R. I ride it everywhere and it's been extremely reliable. Over the years, I've invested in valve adjust tools, a throttle sync device, an after market exhaust that I re...

Re: low rev sluggishness
You always gotta keep the revs up with the oilheads. Lugging these engines at low revs can cause damage. They seem to much prefer the 3000+ range.
Yes, this seems strange with a twin and it took me some time getting used to.

Wow dude! Horrifying event to say the least!
I'm going out to the garage today and checking my torque. It's been a long time.

I also agree with the fuel statement. I noticed lots of pinging from some fuels. I have run Sunoco 94 octane which helped (but I hear it has ethanol in it). Shell V-power 91 octane has no ethanol (so they say on the pump) and I have been running that now with success. However, this doesn't help if t...

Re: Closeout on Z-Technik Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems
Just reporting that I received my new ZTechnik exhaust system on Friday and I am very happy. It's a little louder than I expected but that's OK (way less noise than most Harleys or some Ducatis). The bike feels much different and runs a lot nicer. There seems to be way less "surging" at lo...

Re: Closeout on Z-Technik Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems
Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered this exhaust system. I've been holding off for too long. I was unable to find any sort of reviews on it and there are not really any sound samples on YouTube. Other systems are so expensive and I could never justify it to the wife. My main reason for getting thi...

Valve cover protectors?
Hi,
I'm looking for a little protection just in case the bike ever tips over or anything. Anybody know of a good, trusted site to order from? I live in Canada by the way (would need them shipped).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Which of these oils should I use on a low-mile 1150r
I wanted to chime in on this topic regarding my own experience lately. Of course this is beating a dead horse and there have been so many other discussions on the matter. I have been reluctant to start a new topic. I debated this with myself since I purchased my bike late last summer. It had 20k km'...

Isn't that damn groundhog statistically wrong 60% of the time? If so, that's a good thing this year :D That's what I heard anyway but regardless, we still have a bit of time. No worries, wife and I are going to Bermuda for a week to visit some family so that will give us a break. No riding though :-...

Hey Bruno71,
I'm new here and just checkin' out some other rides. Very beautiful scenery.
23F is definitely cold on a bike. As long as you dress for it, almost anything is doable. Ahhh... grip-warmers
Thanks for the sharing your ride!

Welcome aboard, Spring is just around the corner...what the heck are you guys smoking? Give me some. And pass that bottle too. I think we have some time to kill. My feeling is that spring is still down the street...take the on-ramp...continue for two months...hang a right...and... Yeah, I guess you...
