It would be cheaper for me to go to Sturgis.

Re: Earplugs Anyone?
I use a pair of Skull Candy in-ear headphones with the rubber isolator cup; they work pretty well to eliminate the wind roar.
I'll get a pair of custom molded ones someday.

Re: Troubleshooting to see if it is on one cylinder?
I suppose you could perform a cylinder drop test of sorts by removing the injector leads one at a time and observing any changes in behavior. Any change will be dramatic and very noticeable.

Re: Tire road Test Z6 interact
Okay, so I got a set of metzler Z6 interacts installed today (also found out I have a blown fork seal) so I'll be road testing them for the next (hopefully) 8000 or so miles . Hehe... good luck with that. I had a set installed at 11,7xx miles and the rear was down to the cords before I hit 16,000. ...

Re: Clutch slippage
Mine exhibited the same behavior around 13,000 miles, then went away. I'm close to 17,000 miles now and it did it again the other day, then went away again. I'm thinking the actuator may be hanging up - perhaps there's an imperfection in the slave cylinder's bore or something. Haven't pulled the sta...

[-X http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/Hid/conversions/conversions.html Have you used his bulbs or other products? I haven't. I linked the page because it's a worthwhile read for those considering plug-and-play HID conversions. Dropping an HID bulb into a halogen housing makes a ton of g...

Offer $4500.
For what it's worth, the front carbon fiber fender is stock. I haven't seen a rear hugger like that before - maybe it was a dealer option or an aftermarket addition.

Re: Value of 'Dropped' Rockster
Every market is different. Around here, that would be a good deal. Just over a month ago, I bought my '04 Rockster (non-80th anniversary) for $6900. It had 11,xxx miles on it, no luggage or pannier racks, servo-assist ABS, Bagster tank bag setup, new tires, and a very recent 12,000 mile service at t...

Re: Have you "bonded" with your ride?
I become comfortable with my machinery, but I don't bond with it, per se. I'm not the type who names an inanimate object, for example.
I don't feel one with the Rockster yet - it'll probably be a couple thousand more miles.

Re: Stuck spark stick plug coil (now it's personal)
If all else fails, pull off the valve cover. It's a two minute job, requires no gaskets to reinstall, and makes the bottom of the coil easily accessible. You could probably use a thumb to put a little pressure on the bottom of the boot from the inside and pop it out.

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist ---> $480 for $30,000 each person/$60,000 each accident Uff da. Re: Carrying R1150R in a pickup
It's an interesting product, but I wouldn't be totally comfortable without putting a strap or two over the top of the front wheel. A load isn't really secured properly unless you can invert the truck and trailer without it moving... not that you would, but it's a good scenario to imagine when tying ...

Re: Carrying R1150R in a pickup
Get a sturdy ramp and a friend who's familiar with handling motorcycles. You can load a bike on your own, but the chance of dropping it increases substantially. When you unload, it's often helpful to leave the bike in gear and use the clutch to allow it to roll. Kind of a failsafe in case you lose y...

Re: Horn's dilemma
Sounds like the horn is failing. They often fail in a sporadic way, and if you hold the button down for several seconds, you may even be able to hear the tone begin to waver. Install a Stebel Nautilus - you won't regret it.

Re: Last chance to warn me off
Welcome to the fold. Ride the wheels off that bike... it gets a little bit better with every mile! I picked up my Rockster on the 26th and it's already "gotten a little bit better" about 800 times. Can't stop riding it.
