Help
Hello. I just had my R1150R spray painted and despite my request the guy drained all the gas out of the tank and also let the battery run down. Now the bike starts easily enough but runs only on one cylinder i.e. left side. I have tested the r/h for spark with another spark plug - plenty. I removed ...

Re: Hard Bag Repair
Hi I had the situation where my topbox came off at high speed. Obviously it was scratched. I used emery cloth to flatten the whole box, then primed it with a plastic primer and then colour coded the box. It looked so good that I also did the side cases. It's no big deal, fairly easy to do and the be...

Re: Jump Start Posts?
Hi I experienced the same problem with a dead battery. I also installed a jump start pole but at the same time I decided to also install an accessories plug as you have access to all the necessary wires under the cover of the starter motor. Just remember to install an inline fuse for the accessories...

Re: Torque Wrench-Master
Hi All modern torque wrenches work on the basic very simple procedure. Somewhere you have to unlock the wrench. Then you adjust it to the setting that you need (normally by turning the handle), lock the wrench again. Now you are ready to tighten bolt/nuts to your required setting. Just place a hand ...

Hi
I bleed both the clutch and brake circuits (ABS) annually. Like you, I prefer a good clean system and it does not cost much.

Re: Removing stuck plug-coil-caps
Hi
I use a set of long nose pliers but am very careful not to squeeze too hard on the pliers. I normally put my hand or my hand and a thick cloth between the pliers and the covers to prevent damaging the covers. Have had no problems yet.

Re: Dynabeads
Thanks. Will order some and remember about the soapy water.
Do I have to worry about the soapy water when I use them to improve my love life? Perhaps it will be better if they all "clunk" together?

Dynabeads
Hi Is there anyone who have heard of, or have something negative to say regarding the use of Dynabeads? I have to replace the tyres on my R soon and the local bike shop (Newcastle, South Africa) have only had one experience with Dynabeads and that was a request to remove them. Apparently a rider of ...

Re: Flyscreen Painting
Hi I'm no expert at painting but am very interested in what you are doing. I want to raise a couple of questions: Should the screen not be a bit "rough" for the paint to adhere to it? To the best of my knowledge a plastic primer is recommended before you apply the colour? Are you using a s...

Re: Accessory outlet connection problems. HELP!
Hi My 2002 also did not have the socket. I did not buy the BMW part - too expensive here in South Afica. I went to an auto electrician who fits accessories to caravans (I think you refer to them as trailers??) and 4X4 vehicles. I bought both the male and female sockets from him and did the installat...

Re: Hello! First time BMW owner with a few questions...
Hi John and welcome I hope that you will enjoy your Beemer as the members here do. To answer some of your questions: 1. It is normal to experience some form of "difficulty" to engage first gear. You don't have to pump the clutch several times. You may pull the clutch in, apply slight press...

Re: Back-firing R
Hi Chris If it backfires when you close the throttle and the motor is running against compression - I would not worry except if you don't like the sound. Mine does the same and I love it. You may be able to eliminate most of the backfiring by ensuring that all the joints are properly sealed. I recal...

Re: Where are you from?
Hi :) enjoyed reading your comments (except where cyclerob suggested to replace Africa with Aussie land) :( . Here in South Africa there is this stupid tendency to talk about "Autralasia" as if Australia and Asia are one and the same. I don't know whether I'm on your poll yet, but I'm from...

Seat for RT and R
Hi
Can anyone tell me if the seat of a R1150RT will fit on a R1150R? I did ask the local BMW dealer but he never bothered to come back with a reply.
They look similar but I don't know about the fittings etc.
Thanks
Johan

Cleaning Injectors
Hi Again I have to rely on the feedback of the knowledgeable members here for guidance. I see that you mention additives to put in your gas tanks for storage, cleaning etc. Unfortunately we don't have those brand names in South Africa. May I use additives that is commonly used in cars (gas not diese...
