Help

Post by Johan_SA »

Hello.

I just had my R1150R spray painted and despite my request the guy drained all the gas out of the tank and also let the battery run down. Now the bike starts easily enough but runs only on one cylinder i.e. left side.

I have tested the r/h for spark with another spark plug - plenty.
I removed the old plug - wet and strong gas smell.
I replaced the old spark plug with another plug - no difference.

When I "blip" the throttle the r/h cylinder fires for a short period.
There is a backfire when I blip the throttle.

Due to the battery being flat - could there be a mapping that I have to set?

I don't think that the timing is out?

Please help (I'm not a mechanic at all).

Thank you.

Johan

Motronic should be ok since it runs on one cylinder. You have spark and some fuel to bad side.

Make sure that the throttle cable is seated on the throttle body on bad side. If the painter removed the tank its common to unseat the throttle cable on re install.

Common mistake when re-installing the tank.

yeah its quite a sinking feeling.... getting done with all your maintenance, high-fiving yourself mentally... then you start it and your bike runs like crap, then dies...

i remember thinking "what have I done!!!!?"
