Re: Crossing 100,000

Welcome to the club. The nice thing about hitting 100,000 miles in Canada is that the odometer is metric. Mine shows 162,000.Great bikes EH!

Re: required reading from a bmw mechanic

I have a 2002 R1150R with 160000 KM (100000 miles). I still love riding it after 11 years. Maintenance has been minimal. cam chain tensioner, rebuilt throttle bodies, front wheel bearings, 'fork' seals ,heated grips ,wire ties ,2 saddlebag lids. Other than that regular fluid changes and a set of tir...

Re: So the left side of my bike and my left shin are...

Hi Sparky, I had the same thing happen one time after adjusting my valves. If you had the valves set, the dealer would have had to take off the valve cover. When reinstalling the cover it's really easy to have the rubber seal (that goes around the spark plug hole) move out of position during reassem...

Re: SW Ontario

Hey Gary, Being a rider from SW Ontario for more than 30 years the best place for aftermarket parts (tires etc.) is Platinum Powersports near Clinton. I personally have not had mechanical work done there, but I know lots of people who have. He is very good. Wolf BMW in London is the best dealer. But...

Will these bags fit?

I have been looking for a set of systems cases to fit my 2002 R since one of mine jumped ship on my way to work one day. I have located a set from a K 1200 R that look to be in good shape. But before I make the trek to look at them could someone here tell me if they will fit my bike. I don"t mi...

Re: Which Exhaust?

I love my Laser full system. They are pricey, but I like the looks and sound. It came with a chip that was easy to install and I have retained my centre stand and bags.
Whatever you choose show us some pictures.

Re: FullFairing

I bought a Hannigan fairing in 1981 for my Honda 750F. The bike is long gone, but I kept the fairing. I sent it to Hannigan when I bought a Honda Sabre and they modified it to fit the new bike. Since buying my 2002 R I have toyed with the idea of modifying it yet again to fit. Personally, I love the...

I had a strange noise too, from the same area.I pulled the cover off and found the nut on the top pulley had backed off and was rubbing on the plastic cover. It made the same sort of noise as you described.
I tightened it and everything is fine now.Just a thought.

Thinking out loud

Have you ever gone out for a ride,on a deserted country road, on a moonlit night, and felt like you were just kind of sitting still while the earth was rotating beneath your rear tire? It's pretty cool.

I have had a Laser Hot Cam for 4 years, full system with chip.I've had lots of positive comments on the sound, not too loud.It looks sweet, and I can use the saddle bags and centre stand. The only drawback is I have to remove it for oil changes.Nice quality craftmanship, but pricey.

I have had all three.I'm using the Conti Road Attack now and even though I love the tread pattern (funky looks),I think I prefer the feel and mileage of Metzelers.Hard to go wrong with any of these three.

With mine it was my fault.I had just washed my bike and was in a hurry to go somewhere. With visions of the open road on my mind I didn't latch the bag properly.(operator error)
There are some good ideas posted somewhere about safety pinning the cases.

I bought a Laser Hot Cam system with chip in 2002.I got it because I love the look of it,but it sounds great too.It gives the bike a little more power and I have never had any problems with it or the bike since I installed it.I still retain my centre stand and system cases, but have to remove pipe to...

Good luck! Maybe now is a good time to upg...

The Swiss Army knife of motorbikes!! It does everything.
In four years I have 75000 km of commuting,touring,2 speeding tickets, met countless cool people, and wear a constant grin.
I could go on,but you get the message.
