Re: Touring with a Gold Wing and R12R
I don't know anything about psychoanalysis. But it seems like one of the big issues for the OP is that he found himself agreeing to go on a ride that he has doubts about. Firstly, he seems to have doubts about going with someone else. Anyone else. When you have limited time off, and you value the ti...

Re: Touring with a Gold Wing and R12R
Good Question. The gentleman I will be riding with was a former colleague back in the 90s when we both worked at a different company. We were friendly back then but not good friends. About two years ago he joined our company and we have become friends and he's senior to me and we work on some proje...

Why do you want to ride to the meeting together? Is there any way that answering this question and finding a mutually agreed upon solution to your dilemma can give you insights into your work?

I love mine. Best helmet I've owned. Previous helmet was a Shoei X-12. I agree with your comments. Now you just have to figure out who you want to leave the Schuberth to in your will.

Re: Driving on mountain roads
This is a very interesting discussion indeed. When it comes to twisties, I am definitely a novice. I haven't had much contact with other riders; all my experience has been trial and error. I was reading about initiating a turn by counter-steering in the Hurt report. The adage "to initiate a tu...

Re: Questions from a prospective buyer
Greetings from a fellow rider from the PNWet, and congratulations on the new bike. I thought we might end up with an early riding season over the Cascades this year, but it's snowing like crazy. Seven inches on the ground in the Methow Valley last week, 37 inches this week. And it's still snowing ha...

Re: I'm selling my 07' R1200R.
Kriega tail packs and tank bags are a terrific option for the 9T. Completely waterproof, extremely well made. Mix and match sizes/components. I think Revzilla sells them. I bought them for my Speed Triple, and now use them on my R12R. When you first start using them they are a bit fiddly. But with a...

Re: Clutch (and Brake) Lever Upgrade?
Hmmmm....those look nice.
2 or 3 fingers on the levers?
Is it easy to keep the fingers that aren't on the levers from getting pinched between lever and grip?

Re: Recommend Me a Helmet!
Schuberth C3 Pro. I tried on a C3 last year and it didn't fit. The updated Pro version fits beautifully. Quiet. Exceptionally comfortable liner. No hot spots. I ride with a sport screen. I'm amazed how aerodynamic this helmet is. This is my first modular helmet. Couldn't be happier.

Mark, Also, go sign up on the BMWSportTouring.com discussion board. Start a thread about your trip. Don't be surprised if you get offers from folks to ride part way with you, and offer places to stay for the night. And if you do have a break down along the way and post it on the site, you'd be surpr...

Re: Roadside Assistance
I suggest two options: 1. Call Australia BMW Motorad and see if they can confirn what you were told by the USA affiliate. You may have spoken to someone who does not know what they are talking about. People travel all over Europe with their BMWs. It seems strange to think their bikes wouldn't be cov...

Re: Clutch (and Brake) Lever Upgrade?
I had the Varios on my k1200s. They felt great. The only problem is that the brake lever could be easily, and inadvertantly, adjusted just by bumping the adjuster thingy. First time it happened I thought I had lost brake fluid when the lever pulled almost all the way to the throttle grip. The upside...

Re: New owner, first trip on the R
Heard back from Steve at Nightrider regarding a potential failure of one or both AF-XiED units on an R1200 bike. Here is his reply: " The Motronics ECM will see this as an O2 Sensor failure and revert to open loop operation. In open loop operation the ECM calculates the injector opening time, ...

Mike, that advrider thread is geek heaven. I look forward to seeing the final product. Yes, Roger is a very interesting and detail oriented guy. There is a coment in there somewhere where he compares the role of a thermometer with a thermistat. The air temp foolers being the thermometer and the XiE...
