BMW Navigator V / ios in the car

Post by scooterme »

So, I did not hold out too much hope, but I was still a little disappointed that the new release of BMW Navigator does not have the 'ios in the car' feature built in.

I would love to have a waterproof, glove friendly device on the handlebars to let me see who's call I'm ignoring and give me access to my itunes library while I'm riding. Am I the only one?

Quite possibly the best reply to a "first world problems" thread I have ever seen. =D>

I can't remember giving a damn about who is calling me whilst riding. But that's just me. Busy listening to my I Tunes. I do feel your pain though.
What is happening to my skin?
Where is that protection that I needed?
Air can hurt you too

Before Garmin gets to solving the caller ID problem, it needs to work on the re-design of the Nav V that puts the power button somewhere else besides the back of the unit where it is inaccessible because it's covered by the cradle and the software issue that changes the map to the home screen when a call is made or received so that, in addition to losing audio navigation directions when you get or make a call, you also lose the map and it's info. Also, having the screen show a disconnect button when a call is made or received so that you can disconnect the call without having to cycle through other screens while riding would also be a project for the geniuses at Garmin to tackle before they get to caller ID.
And if we wanted to be picky, it would be a good project for the Garmin geniuses to re-design the Nav. V software so that, when you push the telephone icon to make a call, the unit defaults to voice command that allows you to make the call instead of yet another screen with multiple options that includes the voice command option that you have to activate before you can give votive instruction.
Maybe, the geniuses have never ridden a motorcycle and haven't figured out that cycling through screens to get where you should be to start with- navigation map and one button voice activation-is not a good thing. As for Caller ID, they have a long way to go before they crack that nut.
