Alternative mirrors?

Post by NCGS »

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new R1200R. My daughter actually beat me to the punch on Friday, she bought one from Daytona BMW over the net.

We're both interested to see if anyone is using something other than the stock BMW "Mickey Mouse ears" mirrors.

I recently saw a R1200R with R1200ST mirrros.. they looked pretty good. They're a bit lower, a bit wider, rectangular instead of round.. I may go with a pair of them if I can't find something I like better.

Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

The only after market mirrors I have seen on our bike were from Wunderlitch or Wudo and were better as far as seeing behind you but I for one wouldn't have them on my bike because I thought them THAT ugly. I thought they would be more at home on a chopper.

alternative mirrors

I have the BMW accessory chrome mirrors on mine. They look good imho. And they are bigger than the standard items, which gives a much improved rear view. You van see them on the thread "screens agian" where there is a picture of my bike.

Those rizoma's look absolutely great Hass. I wanna have them on my bike but I don't want them to stick out more then the original mirrors I have now as that will make it difficult to enter/leave my backyard where my bike is parked. Do you know if they will be the same width by any chance?

I am not sure but looking at pictures on other bikes I would guess that they are narrower than the standard mirrors - though lower down (nearer the bars).

Skippy, Hass has me all fired up to get a pair of those also. In looking at them it appears that there is a required adapter to make them work, I don't see why you couldn't fit a jam nut or nylon washer under the adapter and keep the mirrors in a position to allow access to you parking area, just a thought

That would also be a possibility. I might look in to them when the weather gets to bad for riding. Wunderlich also sells them here for europe and they state that they are more or less the same width with the normal arms and you can also get longer arms if you have trouble with the standard bmw mirrors seeing behind you.
