Same thing happened to the Givi rack on my 2000 VFR. It was an older version - the updated version I replaced it with was much beefier and didn't give me any problems. Seems like some of the rack designs are pretty good, and some of them are pretty iffy - not to mention ugly. But I've mostly been pretty happy with all the Givi stuff I've bought.moto-m wrote:I also have the Givi system top rack and unfortunately there has been constant problems with the metal fracturing. The plates welded to the tubes that run from each side and to which the top box mounting is bolted, flex and then fracture. This has happened on both sides now and I have resorted to bolting the top box mounting by drilling down through the tubes and using longer bolts – effective but not very elegant. There has not been any excessive weight placed in the topbox, in fact I use it mainly to store my helmet and gloves etc. when leaving the bike parked. I have used Givi systems on most motorcycles that I’ve owned, and this is the first time that I’ve been disappointed in the quality of the fittings.
