AirHawk Pad has worked well for me.
Another 300 miles....... no problem.
The AirHawk is more pricey than other "pads", but if you search you can find it online for about $40 less than retail. When I think of all the miles I've rode this year without butt pain or monkey butt because of the AirHawk, it's cost seems trivial... It has made my 500 mile days-for-weeks-non-stop possible, including a few Iron Butt rides. Even with a new custom seat I can't live without it for the long haul.
It raises me up 1/2 inch, which also adds to my comfort by giving me more legroom.
The key is to read the directions and have it properly adjusted. It does take a little effort to get it right, so if you just sit down on it without knowing what it's supposed to be doing, and adjusting it, you're not getting the real deal from it.

My Alaska sheepskin increased the bearable riding time from 40 minutes to 60. I've since added an Airhawk pad but haven't had a chance to try it yet. My fingers are crossed that it will do the job on my upcoming 1-2 week road/camping trip.
The results from that trip willl determine whether or not to spring for a Russell Day Long seat (which I can barely afford but will get if I have to).
