FullFairing

Post by GARY62 »

Hi,

Does anyone know of an aftermarket full fairing to suit a 2001 1150r?

Regards, Gary.

Check out Hannigan fairings. They have been around for years and still make stuff of the 1150 and 1200 R bikes.

Hey, isn't that the fairing that the cop in Mad Max had on his KZ1000?... :-k

Why not buy an RT or RS? It would seem to defeat the purpose of owning an R to cover it up with a big ugly fairing.

Beemerphile has a Hannigan and if you check his posts back in 2006 (I think) you'll see pictures and comments regarding the Hannigan.

Beemerphile is a function over form type of guy and also installed the "box type" GS bags and did some other stuff like change the suspension. I seem to remember him commenting that Roadster owners were mostly re-entry, short distance, polish-a-lot types who didn't ride much. Maybe I'm confusing him with another person.

Anyway, I've always enjoyed his posts and I like what he's done with his bike.

Thanks, I've had a look at the Hannigan fairing & it looks like the sort of thing i need.

Iv'e got a 1996 r1100rt which i have done 77,000 miles on since i got it a couple of years back with 113,000 miles on it in total. Its a great bike but is a pain to work on due to all the bodywork.

I'm thinking of replacing the 1100rt with the 1150r, i only managed to do 17,000 miles on it last year but its a very capable bike, all it needs is some weather protection,
The hannigan fairing looks like it will allow easy access to the throttle boddies & easy removal of the fuel tank making it eaiser to work on as well as great protection from the elements.

I'll get in touch with Hannigan & see how much they want to ship a fairing to the UK.

Thanks. Regards, GARY62

I bought a Hannigan fairing in 1981 for my Honda 750F. The bike is long gone, but I kept the fairing. I sent it to Hannigan when I bought a Honda Sabre and they modified it to fit the new bike. Since buying my 2002 R I have toyed with the idea of modifying it yet again to fit. Personally, I love the R just the way it is (sport windsheild),but the added weather protection would be nice.
Hannigan has changed owners since I purchased my fairing and moved the operation to the U.S. so I can't vouch for the new people. But the quality and service was excellent for me. I had a long talk with Dave Hannigan when I bought my fairing and I am sure if his name is still on the product the quality will still be top notch.
Good luck and if you do get one please post some photos.
