Like Lobo said, you need to go here: http://www.centramatic.com/Demo/demo.php The second video on that pages shows how they work, with a strobe light. I would still like to know what the physical principal is... but clearly the balls do distribute themselves to properly balance the wheel... amazing...Daryl_stamp wrote:The balancing bead concept seems pretty sketchy to me, sort of like ethanol.
I didn't see anything on innovativebalancing.com specifically regarding theory of operation.
.....
All of that being said, however, the lack of scientific / engineering data does not mean that the bead balancing doesn't work.
....
For my $, however, I want to see some of that scientific / engineering data.

Re: Ceramic balancing beads
I visited Boxer Briefs' previous link to best products and was pleased to see the beads can be added through the valve stem SWEET....no having to take the tire off

Re: Ceramic balancing beads
How much of a mess is there when you change tires? I wouldn't want a bunch of little beads rolling around on the garage floor. I guess you could rig a little vacuum cleaner to suck the ceramic beads out after you've broken the bead on the tire.kantuckid wrote:I have used them and they work as they are supposed to!

Re: Ceramic balancing beads
If you don't want to dump them on a newspaper or cloth and save them(I do),just blow the the little things out-they are only about 1/32" diameter.
Re: Ceramic balancing beads
Thanks for all the replies and the link to the demo. I don't understand how they work, but I'm going to try the balancing beads when I replace my tires. Right now I'm going to go riding. It's a beautiful day here in NW Oklahoma and my old tires still have plenty of tread left for a few more long rides.
Re: Ceramic balancing beads
Don't worry, they work! You get 1 oz for the front and 2oz the back on a bike. They are poured into the valve stem with a little plastic bottle that is reusable. They are sold a number of places and all seem to have the same price. You can save by buying them in bulk and just putting new ones in at each tire change. I pay to have my tires changed at a local Suzuki bike dealer and like most places they don't allow you back there while they work, so it is asking too much for them to save them, but they cost lees than a balance job by the same place and they always work to give you balance as your tires wear. You will not know they are in there rolling around.
