Brake pads for 1150 Rockster
It is time to replace pads on my Rockster. It has nearly 15K miles. My question is, should I get the BMW pads or an after market brand. I have had several other bikes before I moved over to BMW and have always used EBC with good results. Any advise will be appreciated

I've always used BMW apart from a brief foray with EBC - the EBC didn't suit, and lasted half the time, so the more expensive BMWs cost the same over time and involved less changing!rudytenorio wrote:It is time to replace pads on my Rockster. I am currently using EBCs, but can't comment on their longevity - just installed 3000 km ago. They certainly work, as they helped me perform an accidental stoppie while avoiding someone who cut me off and promptly hit their brakes. I also get them from a friend for a substantial discount, so I am not too worried about longevity.

Which pads are you replacing, front or rear. I had the rear replaced at the dealership and they had a dunlop brand for $57 while the BMW brand were $97. Also I was reading that they switched from organic to metallic. You could still pick up the older organic pads for $25 but I heard they leave a black messy powder but are still very functional.

Wow - I have just over 62,000 miles and still have the original front pads.
I repalced the rear a little while ago. I guess brakes are over-rated to me.
The EBC are cheaper (meant less expensive), but you know the BMW OEM pads will be perfect.

I am replacing the rear pads. I actually just bought a set of EBC. (I think they were a third of the price of the BMW pads) So far after 400 miles they appear to work great. I will see how they do in the long run. Depending on their performance I will decide what to get for the front.
