Re: R1200R ... the reason why my next bike will be a KTM!
I must have tried a half dozen bikes from every manufacturer after I sold my 06 1200 RT, including the Speed Triple and a couple of KTM's but what brought me back to the BMW 1200 R was the lightness, balance and more than enough power (how much do you need?) but oh those boxer engines just speak to me. Nothing like them and nothing like that throaty but quiet sound.

Pray for me brothers, as I too have contracted the disease; yesterday I put my name on a yet-to-be-assembled R1200R, black, with most of the bells and whistles. And thanks to you guys, I've got a list of farkles to buy as long as my arm.

When I bought my R, the dealer said that the R1200R is the most fun.
Not the fastest, the K model can do that......but I will tell you, the R goes fast enough
Not the best for wind protection. The RT can do that, but I believe you roast in the summer.
Might not be able to do all the stuff the GS can do, but I think we have proved them wrong.
And for me, 90% of my riding is on asphalt.
Overall I am very happy with the R.
No regrets.
Picked it up April 15 of this year with 0 miles on it.
I cam now scheduling it for the 6K service.

Why did I bother reading this? The OP did not like the bike, cool. He does not get what BMW was after...
Buy why come on this forum and let us know how unworthy the bike is?
I read this from time to time to get info, not read that gibberish. I am at over 21,000 miles and still loving this bike. I find it meets my needs exactly.
As they say YMMV.
Cheers

Has anyone here driven a KTM Super Duke? Folks aways say Ducatis sound good but to me this KTM sounded very very nice and looked good too. I didn't get to take it for a spin, not enough time.
