shocks,is the shock-absorber adjustment i can't understand

have the riders manual,all 81 pages of it witch 1/3 is common sense except the shock-absorber
adjustment part..i will be going on a trip in a few days and would like to know how to set the
shocks for luggage, solo with luggage....anyone???

For the rear, there is a big black knob you turn, left side of bike.

Like he said... black knob... that's the preload... you increase the preload (clockwise) when you put more weight on the bike or you want a firmer ride.

There's a little screw on the side of the shock... that controls your rebound dampening... generally the higher you set your preload the higher you should set your rebound... generally when the rear of the bike feels like it's wallowing in a turn or bouncing like a car with bad shocks (keeps moving up and down after the bump), you need more rebound. More means you turn in the direction of the "H".

Was on some very broken and bumpy roads around Strines Inn & Bradfield, rural Yorkshire, Sunday. SWMBO was being bounced around on the back. Backed off preload by 6 clicks (had it wound up for a fully loaded solo trip) and things became much smoother.
Conclusion SWMBO weighs less than my weekend luggage!

nah - she's just jumping up and down on the back. (was there a rythmic thumping noise in your helmet at the same time?)

LOL- she was getting a bit agitated and a headbutt on the back is not very friendly!
Think it is set OK now . Felt fine on a solo trip to work today. At least I know the preload adjustment actually does something.
