My heart tells me to go with Sargent. I saw Dons seat (the one on his bike) and it looks right, I've also used Sargent seats in the past and have always been satisfied. My problem is that I don't feel good about investing money in the stock seat pan that is starting to break up around the front mounting point after only 18,000 miles. I know they will most likely get me a new one on warranty but that won't help me if I have a custom cover on it.
I'll assume the guys that went with Corbin are following this thread.
How does the pan on the Corbin seats look, I understand about adjusting the latch and I don't see that as a major issue. Does the pan look like it will last 100,000 miles? I have no personal experience with Corbin and I take everything on these lists with a grain of salt, as only the people that have a problem with the item (whatever it is) usually take the time to post.

Definitely. Not only does it look and feel that I'll last 100,000 miles, but 100,000 years as well. The Corbin seat pan is built like a tank and weighs a ton. If I had to describe it, elegant and graceful are not attributes I would use, but rather industrial and chunky. Good thing it's hidden from view.mogu83 wrote: Does the pan look like it will last 100,000 miles?
I really like the looks of the Sargent, but I'd probably still buy the Corbin, as the comfort works for me.

I just got back from a ride along the ocean at sunset. Would have been much better had my important parts not been smashed. I have an appt. Monday for a new custom seat. I've got a 100 mile ride home from the Bill Mayer workshop so I'll have a report and pics.

Update on the Sargent seat (haven't been racking up as many miles since daylight saving's ended in NJ - don't like riding home on the deer infested roads in the dark..)
Did another 200 miles on it Sunday - with the LD_Rider undies on. Worked great, no pain. Also it allows moving my butt around a bit if I feel cramping starting up. 4 hours without pain is a GOOD THING. I give it a thumbs up!

Hey Don
So you say you have the short legs, are you a 5 ft. 5er.? The sargent seat you got. was it the low one or the regular,,,and did you replace a low stock seat. I also got the short legs, I have a stock regular seat and height is ok, I got a corbin, and even though they say it is the same height, the shape puts me up an inch, just a bit more than i like,,, but so far the seat is ok, only 300 miles but much better than stock. So I have the stock and thought maybe try the sargent low.

More important than height - inseam. Mine is 27" on a tall day.. less some days. It replaced a stock low seat, and puts you slightly higher (mebbe 1/2") when you come to a stop... I believe due to the extra padding they added around the nose of the seat. I also have lowered suspension (3/4") - which helps a bunch. Can't flatfoot it - but not quite on tippie-toe either.orhog wrote:Hey Don

Re: NOW AVAILABLE FROM SARGENT CYCLE PRODUCTS!
I just got the Sargent seat that Don spoke about (complete with heated option) and must say it is _far_ superior to the stock BMW seat. The turn around time was less than 2 weeks, and installing the heated seat option was fairly straightforward. The controller is variable (not just on-off) and works great and kept me nice and toasty.
I've only had a chance to put a few hours in the seat, but so far it's exactly what I wanted and I'm very pleased. Plus, I used the coupon code Don put in his first email (see the beginning of the thread) and saved some money too. Note - you have to call order over the phone to use the coupon code.
